What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this dynamic role you will execute a variety of production and technology related operations in the Downstream (Purification) area in a large-scale pilot plant. The pilot plant delivers data and material to support process development of early and late-stage clinical biologic molecules. The plant also prototypes and develops new technologies to support advancement of Amgen’s equipment and operations for current and future biologic facilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Must be able to work both Day (7:30am - 4:30pm) and Swing Shift (2:30pm - 11:30pm). Shifts rotate roughly every 3 months based on business needs.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs.
  • Completing a variety of production-related operations in a large-scale facility, including but not limited to chromatography, UF/DF, and viral filtration.
  • Performing supporting activities such as buffer preparation, and equipment set-up/cleaning, and completion of downstream operations.
  • Performing ‘hands-on’ work in the plant.
  • Ensuring documentation accurately reflects operations performed, implementing area improvements (efficiency and safety) applying lean principles, and participating in operations meetings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school/GED + 2 years biotechnology experience in manufacturing, engineering, process development experience or military experience
  • Associate’s + 6 months biotechnology experience in manufacturing, engineering, process development experience or military experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemical/Chemical Engineering, or other relevant field
  • 1+ years of experience in process development, biotechnology manufacturing, or Life Sciences or Engineering fields
  • Solid knowledge of downstream operations
  • General knowledge of the associated analytical and buffer preparation techniques
  • Energetic and technically-minded individuals, with strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and applications, and various downstream techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team and/or project environments

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
