Position Highlights:
Location: Elmhurst Hospital - Center for Health Elmhurst, IL.
Part Time: 0.5 FTE
Hours: 3pm-7pm Monday-Friday; Every other Saturday 7am-11am; Every other Sunday 6:30am-3pm: Rotating holidays
What you will do:
Meets the personal comfort and convenience needs of the patient and helps to facilitate the operations of the Laboratory Department related to those needs.
Performs a variety of routine and complex specimen collection procedures including blood specimens for laboratory testing according to physicians' orders. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin site, and performs venipuncture and skin punctures according to established aseptic techniques.
Labels specimens and transports same to Laboratory for analysis. . Accurately completes a variety of data entry tasks, including test order entry and insurance verification.
Communicates in a professional and courteous manner with patients, family and other medical personnel as necessary to solve problems, obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation.
What you will need:
High School Diploma or GED or higher
Current CPR (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Valid Illinois Driver's License and auto insurance
Completion of a phlebotomy training program including 100 hours of on-site clinical site training
Preferred:
Phlebotomy certification
