National Intake - NOFRILLS FRANCHISE ACADEMY

NOFRILLS stores proudly support communities across Canada through our over 275 independently owned locations. Our stores provide Canadians with exceptional value, reliable service, and excellent quality. The NOFRILLS Franchise Academy is a National program that develops future NOFRILLS Franchise Owners across Canada through experiential and academic training and is looking for community-minded, entrepreneurial, and people focused leaders who strengthen the NOFRILLS brand through store ownership. By joining the Franchise Academy, you will sharpen your departmental expertise through cross-pollination in our diverse network of top-tier stores, round out your four wall knowledge through mentorship under our best owners, be involved with supporting strategic banner initiatives and projects, and play an important role in supporting NOFRILLS franchise locations from coast to coast. Upon completion of your time with the Franchise Academy program, you will gain the necessary skills and experience required to apply for a franchise opportunity with NOFRILLS and join the over 125 successfully franchised Academy graduates.

Overview and Expectations:

  • Must be willing and able to travel nationally for program duration and willing to relocate (both provincially and nationally) for franchise opportunities as business needs require.
  • Put your store experience to use through Operational Special Projects while maintaining the integrity of NOFRILLS core values. You will be expected to use operational and merchandising standards and efficient processes designed to achieve maximum sales and EBIT. Past special projects include but are not limited to:
    • Store systems rollouts and sustainability (SAP, Workday, and STAS)
    • assisting in managing banner initiatives
    • building diverse retail market by working with Owners, Specialists and District Managers
    • in-store projects as assigned
    • actively running stores to support business transitions
  • Engage in formal mentorship where you will shadow a current Franchisee and work closely with their staff in the store and customers in the community to gain the necessary leadership and entrepreneurial skills
  • Successful completion of all in-class training modules, assigned projects, organizing community events, and other duties or projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • A minimum of three (3) years proven track record of managerial experience and a minimum of five (5) years in the grocery retail industry
  • Upon program completion, must be willing to relocate to identified regions of interest if the opportunity to franchise arises
  • Previous experience working within a NOFRILLS store is an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of grocery retail operations throughout total store
  • Passionate community focused individual with demonstrated involvement in various non-profit organizations, recreational sports teams, and other organizations within their local community
  • Must be willing to travel for special projects as required
  • Excellent knowledge of store systems (SAP, STAS, SWEDA MART, etc.) and proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Financial acumen; Posses an understanding of store reports (P&L, COS, Labour Management, Shrink, etc.); and the ability to articulate and apply that understanding
  • Proven leader, comfortable people manager within unionized and or/non-union environments with a focus on coaching and development
  • Demonstrated high level of professionalism and ability to deal effectively with all levels within the organization as well as external contacts
  • Excellent ability to connect with and engage customers and inspire employees
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a talent for building customer loyalty
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • High-School/Secondary-School diploma or equivalent required
  • Secondary language is an asset
  • Post-secondary education/formal training in merchandising and/or business management an asset
