Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customised services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

The Strategy & Governance team works in close coordination with the Santander London Branch (SLB) Executive Committee and SLB Senior Management to implement the Global SCIB divisional goals and objectives whilst ensuring continued operation in alignment with the Group’s governance architecture and all relevant regulatory expectations.

In this critical role, you’ll play a key part in driving the strategic priorities and influencing management decision making. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to identify opportunities and challenges. You’ll ensure that effective control and governance structures are maintained to optimise management time, effort and effective decision making.

You’ll be leading a small team and will report into the Chief Administration Officer (CAO) of SLB and operate as a key adviser to the Head of SCIB UK (Head of SLB) in the day-to-day management of SLB.

If you’ve performed a similar role previously, this could be the perfect opportunity to develop your career.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the CAO and Head of SCIB UK and the wider SLB management team on critical strategic questions facing the business

  • Supporting the design and implementation of strategic transformation programmes to ensure that UK or branch specific aspects are addressed

  • Supporting the strategic planning processes, including development and contribution of strategic and budgeting plans in partnership with CEO, finance, product teams and others

  • Driving the implementation and monitoring of the control and governance model

  • Proactively identifying, assessing, and managing potential governance risks, and designing or implementing remediation or enhancements as required

  • Managing the evolution of Booking Model architecture in line with the growth of the business whilst ensuring that it remains aligned to relevant regulatory expectations

  • Leading regular and ad-hoc strategy reviews on key business issues and to test growth and efficiency hypotheses

  • Acting as the key nodal point for SLB’s engagement with the UK regulatory bodies

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Extensive experience in a similar role within a Management Consulting or Financial Services environment

  • Relevant experience in an advisory capacity on regulatory and governance related matters

  • In-depth understanding and experience of structuring and execution of strategic transformation programmes

  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery and execution of projects

  • Well-developed stakeholder management skills with the ability to work in close collaboration with the support and business units

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • MBA, Master’s in Finance, or equivalent

  • Additional languages, e.g. Spanish
