Grade 2 Orthopaedic Physiotherapist

About the Role

An opportunity currently exists for a Grade 2 physiotherapist to join the physiotherapy department. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high quality, overall physiotherapy management to the orthopaedic, plastics and rheumatology patients of the Fitzroy campus of St.Vincent’s Hospital. The role is also responsible for supervision of students, Grade 1 staff, and Allied Health Assistants and taking a leadership role within the department and other duties as directed/delegated. This position involves 6 monthly rotations between the inpatient and outpatient musculoskeletal departments.

Applications from current grade two physiotherapists or suitably experienced grade one physiotherapists will be considered. Relevant postgraduate qualifications would also be highly regarded.

Must have, or be currently eligible for, National Physiotherapist Registration.

Classifications for this position will range from VB1 – VB4 ($88,467 - $101,691 per annum).

Duties include

  • Provide appropriate clinical management for all musculoskeletal inpatients/outpatients

  • Assessment, planning and treatment including education for all musculoskeletal inpatients/outpatients

  • Communicate assessment and treatment outcomes to nursing, medical and other Allied Health staff via documentation and handovers.

  • Clinical supervision and teaching of physiotherapy students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, as  required

  • Develop and promote new initiatives regarding service provision


Your Contribution

  • Recent experience in and knowledge of physiotherapy management in an acute health care setting, particularly musculoskeletal

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

  • Knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement

  • Experience with student supervision

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Current national criminal history check, or willing to obtain
