This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a Level I Integration Engineering Technician you will be a part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers within Polymer Additive Manufacturing. You will become an essential part of our mission of building a roadway to space for the benefit of Earth. With an emphasis on support removal and readiness for machine activity, this role is foundational for ensuring the smooth function of our operations. Perfect for methodical individuals with an eye for detail, this position offers the opportunity to develop within the Polymeric Additive Manufacturing (P-AM) field and contribute to advancements in space technology.

Special Mentions:

  • Initial training to be performed on A-Shift: Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts.

  • Transition to C-Shift post-training: Friday- Sunday, 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete precision support removal from polymeric additively manufactured parts, upholding the highest standards of craftsmanship.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of material for polymeric additive manufacturing machines.
  • Record any irregular machine actions, such as unexpected build interruptions and equipment malfunctions.
  • Take inventory ownership, actively tracking, managing, and stocking consumables, supplies, and raw materials for production.
  • Contribute to the team's success by ensuring that machinery and work areas are prepared and ready for operations.
  • Support quality control by identifying part defects and promptly reporting them according to company procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment in line with 5S methodology.
  • Assist in monitoring builds on various additive machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality, Production Control, and EHS to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance machine performance.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Engage in continuous learning to become familiar with the various tools and systems used within the company for executing and documenting work.
  • Foster a culture of quality and safety, participating in training and staying current with industry best practices and compliance standards.

Short-Term Goals (First 3-4 months):

  • Establish proficiency in support removal techniques, ensuring clean and well-finished parts.
  • Become adept at managing the workflow of loading and unloading machines, contributing to efficient production turnover.
  • Develop expertise in inventory management, ensuring the availability of all critical materials and supplies.

Long-Term Goals (First 6-18 months):

  • Strict adherence to work order supremacy and manufacturing process flows.
  • Foster a deep understanding of machine operation and production processes, becoming a go-to resource for operational support.
  • Identify and implement strategies for optimizing support removal and material handling, contributing to overall process enhancement.
  • Take initiative in continuous improvement projects, demonstrating accountability for quality and efficiency in production.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior hands-on experience in a manufacturing or technical role preferred.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Capable of routinely lifting weights up to 25 pounds and the ability to be on your feet for continuous periods spanning more than 10 hours.
  • This position will be onsite (Kent, WA) for work schedule.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary technical education
  • Familiarity with 3D printing technology and the handling of polymer and composite materials.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to contribute to process improvement initiatives.


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $24.02-$33.62

Other site ranges may differ

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.

Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
