Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Excels in a team environment interacting with both business and finance colleagues globally.
  • 2+ years prior experience in Affinity, Group Benefits, IIC or GIP with a financial mindset is an advantage.
  • University Business Degree and/or recognized finance/accounting designation
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with database applications
  • Prior experience with Lawson, Jets, Dart, & Trecs is an advantage.
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing, and collaborative team environment while managing multiple, constantly changing priorities and ad-hoc requests.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proactive in executing and owning the processes and controls
  • Experience in Mainframe, AWD, MS Access, SQL data server, and Power BI would be an advantage.

Competencies:

  • Strong oral/written communication skills required to interact with senior officers and representatives from other Divisions and functional departments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to be flexible to changing environments
  • Ability to work independently and to willing to collaborate with other teams for a project with huge scale benefits
  • Willing to work night shift schedule (8PM-5AM PHT / 8AM-5PM EST)

Problems/Challenges:

Accounting entries left to age until they go beyond clearing standard might have impact to Manulife’s or clients’ money.  

Misstatement in Investment Division Financial Statements as a result of incorrect subsidiary accounting entries can lead to incorrect management decisions or potential tax or compliance issue.

Position Dimensions (Organizational Impact):

The Senior Financial Analyst role serves as a control that ensures all accounting entries that go into the general ledger accounts and systems will eventually go out before they reach beyond clearing standard. This will ensure that there’s no errors existing that can impact Manulife’s or Client’s money.
