JOB DESCRIPTION:

1. Primary Objective of the Position

As an Informatics Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Abbott’s diagnostic informatics solutions. You’ll contribute to the development of cutting-edge features and scalable system designs that span from intuitive front-end interfaces to robust back-end services. 2. Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer needs and translate them into functional software designs and deliverables.
  • Develop high-performance, secure, and scalable applications using modern software engineering practices.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve and evolve informatics applications.
  • Ensure all work complies with Abbott’s Informatics Quality System and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Plan, execute, and track project milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Support post-launch activities for on-market products.
  • Participate in Scrum-based development teams and contribute to agile ceremonies.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, product owners, and R&D leadership regarding scope, risks, and budgets.
  • Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.

3. Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of progressive experience in software development, ideally within startups or mid-to-large corporations.
  • Proficiency in Embarcadero Delphi and SQL (Oracle preferred).
  • Strong foundation in object-oriented programming (OOP) and modern design patterns.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and functional testing, Git, and agile development methodologies.
  • Bonus skills include:
    • Python development
    • RESTful API design
    • Cloud technologies (AWS preferred)
    • Containerized applications
    • Unix/Linux environments
    • Mobile application development
    • Distributed systems and security software
  • Prior experience in healthcare or life sciences software development is a strong plus.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
