The SP (Structured Product) Advisor will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and strategic execution of Julius Baer’s structured products (Equity and Fixed Income underlying's) business across the Middle East region.
YOUR CHALLENGE
This role requires a deep understanding of the macro markets, an in-depth understanding of all relevant product variants (EQ OTC derivatives and EQ and Fixed Income structured notes), allowing the individual to partner effectively with Investment Advisors (IAs) and Relationship Managers (RMs) across all the ME locations towards advising the clients.
This position will focus on enhancing revenue generation through ideation, owning the entire structured product and equity OTC delivery platform, driving innovative solutions with a strong focus on investment performance. Ideation needs to be done in sync with equity and fixed income products specialists within the solicitation guidelines of the bank.
Moreover, this role will also require strong collaboration with SP Sales colleagues in both Zurich and Singapore (the 2 booking centers for all Middle East clients) to jointly offer seamless ideation and execution and close coordination with local control functions aimed at continuous development of new SP products and propositions for the ME market.
YOUR PROFILE
Client Coverage & Revenue Growth
- Partner closely with Investment Advisors and Relationship Managers in Dubai, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi to identify yield enhancement and risk management opportunities.
- Proactively drive cross-selling of SP solutions aligned with client portfolios and market conditions.
- Support RMs in structuring bespoke hedging, investment, and liquidity strategies using EQ & FI instruments to enhance wallet share and deepen client relationships.
- Monitor and report on SP-related revenue performance per location and advior; provide actionable insights for improvement.
Product & Idea Coordination
- Serve as the regional expert for high-conviction trading ideas originating from Asia and Switzerland, adapting them appropriately for Middle Eastern client preferences and regulatory environment.
- Present curated market ideas and product variants during the Middle East Morning Meeting and in ME Group Head meetings, ensuring alignment with local demand and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Trading Desks globally to customize offerings relevant to regional client behavior (e.g., local ME market access, Shariah products etc.).
Market Intelligence & Product Feedback Loop
- Deliver regular qualitative and quantitative feedback to Global Product Solutions (GPS) on evolving trends, client demands, competitor activity, and regulatory shifts specific to the Middle Eastern SP landscape.
- Identify gaps or opportunities in current product suite (e.g., need for new underlying's, tenors, payout features, new ETF underlying's linked to new asset classes like crypto’s) based on local market dynamics.
- Recommend enhancements or new product launches—particularly around digital platforms and structures that can accelerate business development.
Stakeholder Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Conduct periodic market updates and educational workshops for internal stakeholders (RMs/IAs) on SP developments impacting UHNW clients in the region.
- Liaise with Marketing and Communications to develop targeted content highlighting SP capabilities and recent successes.
- Represent the bank at select industry events and client forums to strengthen brand positioning in SP.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced qualifications (CFA, CAIA, FRM) highly desirable.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in SP sales, trading, or advisory roles within private banking or wealth management, preferably with exposure to ultra-high-net-worth clientele.
- In-depth understanding of EQ OTC derivatives (AC/DC and OTC strategies), correlation products like FCN and others, Minimum Redemption (or principal protected) notes along with a strong understanding of fixed income products (related to rates curves or credit embedded like Credit Linked Notes)
- Prior experience working in or serving the GCC markets preferred; familiarity with local regulations (e.g., SCA guidelines) and cultural nuances strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Bloomberg, Reuters, and CRM systems.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
