What is the role?

You will be providing medical services to the Girl’s and Women’s programme of Southampton Football Club.

What will you be doing?

Medical Services

In this role, you will provide medical services to players in the G&W programme of Southampton Football Club of all ages. You will ensure clinical issues, clinic cover, and match cover are organised. You may also cover Women’s 1st team training and matches as required as part of a medical cover rota according to league regulations.

You will develop best practice guidelines for screening, prevention and injury rehabilitation and align injury management across the wider Sports Medicine department. In addition, you will liaise with players, parents and staff to provide appropriate feedback on treatment of injuries. You will also accompany

to medical appointments/ scans as required.

Injury prevention

You will contribute to the injury prevention strategies including screening along with educating players in terms of injury prevention, injury care and post-match recovery.

Medical Screening

With the G&W Physiotherapist, you will provide a medical examination to all players upon entry into the programme (trialist & contracted) ensuring alignment with wider Sports Medicine processes.

Match day / Trauma care

You will need to attend all Women’s first team matches and provide pitch side trauma care and ensure emergency medical procedures are in place. You will also be responsible for Medical Emergency Action Plan and relevant health and safety processes for the locations used by the G&W programme and ensure these are aligned with the wider department procedures.

General

You will contribute to the strategy of Southampton and be an active part of the Medical and Science departments. You will work with the G&W physiotherapist to produce injury audit reports to assess injury management. In addition, you will be required to maintain accurate and secure medical records and oversee the maintenance and accuracy of these records by the Girl’s and Women’s medical team.

Is this you?

Essential skills and experience:

  • A medical degree.
  • Licence to practice medicine.
  • A Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
  • Range of clinical employment and experience appropriate to working in an elite and high expectation environment.
  • High Level clinical skills

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Safeguarding level 1/2/3
  • ATMMiF or equivalent pitch side emergency care qualification.
  • Ultrasound skills
  • Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams in a sporting environment
