Job Description

The Guideway Project Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the construction and commissioning of the elevated guideway. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of civil and bridge infrastructure, as well as strong leadership and communication skills to navigate complex design, schedule, estimation, risk and stakeholder relationships and regulatory processes. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all construction activities related to elevated structures, retaining walls, and other civil structures. Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards. 

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant construction regulations, codes, and standards. Work closely with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to address compliance issues and obtain necessary approvals. 

  • Oversee the erection of concrete and steel structures, including scheduling, coordinating with other construction segments, planning on-site deliveries, and managing procedures related to erection and lifting. 

  • Act as the primary contact for coordinating construction activities with contracting authorities, governmental authorities, and other key stakeholders. Facilitate regular meetings and communication to ensure alignment and collaboration among all parties involved. 

  • Coordinate with early works contractors and other project partners to align construction activities with overall project objectives. Foster a collaborative environment to resolve conflicts or issues during construction. 

  • Manage construction and access plans with contractors to ensure smooth operations and minimal impact on ongoing activities. Develop and implement plans to optimize construction logistics and minimize disruptions to surrounding areas. 

  • Coordinating the construction activities of the Elevated Guideway, Retaining Walls and other Civil Structures with Contracting Authority, Governmental Authorities and key stakeholders, including the HONI and TTC; and coordination of the elevated construction and access with TOC Contractors. 

  • Manage and supervise the guideway team and promote a learning and growth culture.  

Work Conditions:

  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driving license G or G2. 

  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment. 

  • May require working extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet project deadlines. 

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 

  • 10 years’ experience with at least 5 years of bridge or elevated guideway construction management in a lead role. 

  • Experience with subway projects, including delivery, and handover of elevated guideway/ bridge assets. 

  • Experience with infrastructure construction within a complex urban area. 

  • Strong problem solving, leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. 

  • Proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD. 

  • A commitment to safety, environment and quality, with a strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively. 

  • A positive attitude and a collaborative spirit, with a focus on achieving project goals and enhancing team performance.
