About You and this Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician at the Louisville, KY location. 

 

The purpose of this job is to repair and replace instrument, electrical, and mechanical systems, including piping and machinery supporting operating plants and utilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and repairing instruments, motors, valves, rotating equipment and all equipment necessary for the chemical plant operation
  • Working with Operations to troubleshoot equipment upsets and determine path to repair
  • Executing preventative maintenance plans to maintain equipment reliability such as calibrations, alignments, lubrications, etc.
  • General construction including shop fabrication, machining, and small welding jobs

 

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Current, valid US driver's license.
  • Able to Work rotating and straight shifts (work assignments may include rotating and straight shifts).
  • Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.
  • Able to work overtime as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Associate's degree in a maintenance, electrical or I&E discipline.  
  • 3 or more years of relevant military experience. 
  • 1 or more years of maintenance work experience in a chemical plant, packaging facility or a skilled trade using similar skills such as a Pipefitter, Millwright, Electrician, or HVAC technician.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Lift, push, and pull.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator.
  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
