09The Role: Financial Analyst, Commodity Insights Finance.
This role is a key member of the S&P Commodity Insights Finance team. We are looking for a candidate that will help support the financial management and reporting processes within the Commodity Insights Commercial team, in addition to supporting senior management with analysis and insight into financial performance. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities ranging from financial to operational.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Assist with the monthly accounting close and forecasting processes for the Commercial and Customer Experience functions including P&L and balance sheet reporting.
Work with the team to generate the annual operating plan and monthly rolling forecasts using Anaplan.
Help calculate, accrue and forecast monthly commissions and incentives globally, liaising with Corporate to manage all aspects of ASC 606 relating to commissions accounting.
Maintain Global Commercial/CX headcount tracker and reports
Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist in the review, analysis and interpretation of monthly financial results and forecasts.
Perform variance analysis and assist with preparation of presentations and dashboards to S&P Global Commodity Insights senior management and Corporate.
Support project work with particular emphasis around process improvement and automation.
Assist in the preparation of analysis for ad hoc requests and special projects and provide direct support to the Finance Manager on an as-needed basis.
Other Accountabilities:
Provides data and analysis during monthly close, estimate and annual budget processes.
Assist in performing ad hoc analyses as requested in order to help management make informed decisions regarding the short and long term objectives of the business.
Alerts management to accounting or operational problems and suggest actionable solutions.
Provides thorough and accurate responses to Senior Management, Corporate and Audit-related inquiries.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications:
Education: college degree in Accounting or equivalent is highly preferred
3-5 years’ work experience within financial analysis.
Strong skills in MS Excel (Pivot tables, V-Lookups, IF functions, etc.)
Experience with ERP (Oracle Financials), SalesForce.com, Tableau, PowerBI and Alteryx would be desirable though not essential
Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for resolving operational and financial problems.
Demonstrate the investigative research and analytical capabilities necessary to the leadership team with an accurate and insightful interpretation of financial information.
Strong attention to detail and analytical ability with an inquisitive mind.
Ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a team.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Must be willing to work in a mid-shift schedule supporting the EMEA Region
Must be flexible to work in a hybrid set-up (2x/week in the office).
