Job Summary
The Personal Trainer is responsible for demonstrating competency in exercise prescription and the design and oversight of outpatient exercise programs for all adult and adolescent participants at the Wellness and Sports Performance Center. The Personal Trainer is responsible for competent instruction in both one on one personal training sessions and group classes for adults and adolescents.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an exercise science or related field, required.
Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) from the American Heart Association required.
Prior experience working with athletes in a sports medicine environment preferred.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Design and implement appropriate exercise programs for individuals with previously identified orthopedic and/or neurologic dysfunction.
Help develop and refine exercise programs and educational programming for the youth sports population as well as the active adult population in the community.
Help develop appropriate home exercises for clients to maintain or enhance their performance in their desired sport and/or recreational activity.
Monitor clients throughout the duration of their session and assess for appropriate response to exercise.
Modify group classes and curriculum in response to client’s feedback and needs.
Identify own educational needs. Participate in at least one clinically oriented course a year.
Demonstrate commitment toward department needs and goals through flexibility in client scheduling, work schedules, and anticipation of department needs.
Alert appropriate staff for the maintenance of equipment.
Follow billing and reimbursement procedures; take responsibility for administrative duties such as scheduling and fee collection at point of service as needed.
Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, compliance, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences or in-services, professional affiliations, or journals to stay abreast of current trends in field of expertise.
Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.
Attend meetings as required.
