Hourly Pay Range:

$20.69 - $30.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Surgical Scheduler II - Surgery

  • Location: Elmhurst, IL

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full time, 40 hours/week

  • Hours: Day shift

What you will do:

  • Schedules surgical procedures based on available time slots, patients' availability, physicians' orders, and type and length of time required to surgery. Attempts to accommodate physicians by scheduling multiple procedures on single day if possible.
  • Reschedules surgical procedures by contacting physicians or their physicians' offices when required due to change in patients' availability, equipment problems, conflicting schedules and the like. Reschedules surgical procedures as soon as possible.
  • Takes physician orders over telephone and via voice mail in order to schedule surgical procedures. Contacts physicians and physicians' offices to clarify or obtain orders for surgical procedures. Confirms physician’s orders with physician’s office.
  • 4. Contacts other Hospital departments to schedule surgical procedures requiring coordination of multiple departments or personnel. Notifies departments and anesthesiologists of special procedures including date, time, procedure, and other pertinent information.
  • 5. Enters and updates surgical schedules in the computer system ensuring correct patient information, patient/equipment charges and the like. Enters implant information into the computer system.
  • 6. Following established schedule, generates computer printout of schedules for each department and delivers same to appropriate department.
  • 7. Prepares end of the month statistics related to patient volume, room utilization, M.D. utilization and the like.
  • 8. May perform related clerical duties including typing, photocopying, and filing as time permits or work load requires.

What you will need:

  • Education: High-school level of communication and/or math skills but no technical training prior to hire

  • Experience: Minimum six months of previous experience
