Manufacturing Engineer improve manufacturing efficiency for achieving the organizations goals through improvement of existing processes or implementing or implementing new processes.  This is accomplished through detailed study of the existing operating processes and through application of engineering skills and experience.

Managers.

  • Monitoring and improving manufacturing methods and processes by applying advanced manufacturing knowledge and design skills.
  • Fully support the implementation of the new assembly line, set up of cells, workload, transportation system, part staging, etc.
  • Implement and successfully complete various projects that would positively impact lead time, throughput, inventory, and payables.
  • Develop a foundation for continuous improvement in the facility and implement projects such as root cause analysis and lean manufacturing that build on this foundation.
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction and throughput.  Develop work instructions and SOP’s as needed.
  • Collaborating with configuration control and design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods (stands/fixtures).
  • Develop, create, and maintain internal manufacturing drawings by using industry and manufacturing standards.
  • Create models & drawings in NX Unigraphics for down-the-hole (DTH) and blast-hole drilling rigs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain facility layout
  • Provide engineering support in the production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.  Working closely with the production department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
  • Estimating staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide dates for operational decisions.

Required Competences

  • Should possess superior oral and written communication skills and be detail-oriented, logical, and methodological in approaching problem-solving.
  • Safety & Quality Oriented.  Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements and meet objectives per Sandvik Alachua Integrated Management System (IMS). Demonstrate respect and commitment to the IMS System (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018), taking accountability for its effectiveness and continual improvement.
  • Provide demonstrated capability to work collaboratively and cross-organizationally and be skilled in developing and maintaining key professional and customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods such as lean manufacturing, world-class manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
  • Ability to grasp modern technology quickly.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.

Computer Skills: Modeling software such as AutoCAD & Unigraphics is required. 5 years experience with TeamCenter or other Product Lifecycle Management software. LEAN or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is a plus.

Education

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing field.  Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, preferably Six Sigma Green Belt.
