Location:

This position can be based either within commuting distance of our Salem, OR headquarters or remotely  in the San Francisco Bay Area.  For remote candidates, regular travel to Salem, typically 1 week per month, will be required. 

Role Overview:

The Staff Hardware Technical Program Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of hardware programs at Agility Robotics. You’ll oversee the entire lifecycle of our hardware development efforts, from concept through production, ensuring that timelines, resources, and deliverables are achieved. This role requires deep expertise in hardware development cycles, exceptional cross-functional collaboration, and mastery of program management tools.

You’ll be the bridge between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and leadership teams, helping to bring our cutting-edge robotics hardware to life.

About The Work:

Program Leadership:

  • Lead the execution of hardware programs, driving on-time delivery of milestones and objectives.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive program schedules, including Gantt charts and Jira workflows, to track progress and dependencies.
  • Proactively identify risks, resolve roadblocks, and ensure alignment across teams.

Hardware Development Expertise:

  • Guide programs through the full hardware development lifecycle, including design, prototyping, testing, validation, and production.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, test, and firmware engineering teams to align on requirements and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with strategic vendors and internal stakeholders on driving co-development initiatives. 
  • Facilitate design reviews and ensure clear communication of technical decisions and updates.

Collaboration with Manufacturing & Supply Chain:

  • Partner with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure readiness for production, from prototyping to scaling.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to address lead times, component sourcing, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee prototype builds, initial production runs, and the resolution of hardware issues during manufacturing.

Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Act as the central point of contact across hardware, software, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
  • Drive alignment on program goals, timelines, and deliverables among stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, concise program updates and recommendations to executives and leadership teams.

About You:

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience managing complex hardware programs, preferably in robotics, aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering hardware products on time and within scope.

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of hardware development cycles, from design and prototyping to validation and production.
  • Strong familiarity with manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.
  • Expertise in program management tools, including Gantt charts and Jira, and familiarity with Agile workflows.

Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders ranging from individual contributors up to and including Agility’s executive leadership team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on proactive risk mitigation.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
