Overview:     

As Technology Supervisor on the M&T Tech Squad team, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of individuals that Completes activities related to larger and/or more complex installations, configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.  Ensures system hardware, operating systems, software systems and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff and partners. You'll be caring for team dynamics and individual growth plans and opportunities, creating space for the best outcomes of the team and the individuals on that team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee execution of project plans for any scope; ensure adherence to all Department and Technology standards and procedures, including all documentation requirements.
  • Assign resources and monitor progress of all assignments; ensure completion of schedules.
  • Responsible for short and long-term staffing planning.
  • Manage application development and support testing efforts, technology infrastructure, project management and other technology domains. May review specifications, preparation and execution of testing; may assist in day-to-day efforts of staff on an exception basis. Serve as subject matter expert in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Translate requirements to assist staff in preparing detailed specifications for system enhancements. Recommend designs based on business requirements. Identify issues and concerns.
  • Serve as a client liaison to review priorities and manage the overall client queue. Build rapport within the organization. Communicate and develop a professional level of cooperation across the organization.
  • Manage efficient operations and effectiveness of areas of responsibility. Recommend new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Typically lead technical evaluations of vendor software.
  • Ensure assigned team demonstrates a strong understanding of the business environment and needs within the area of responsibility. Understand technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem.
  • Responsible for the job growth and career development of assigned staff members by providing training plans, guidance and sharing knowledge.
  • Contribute to the development of a cost center budget.
  • Recommend and initiate new policies and procedures that improve performance and effectiveness of the Department.
  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Education and Experience Required:

  • A combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ technology or systems experience and 2 years leadership experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 8 years’ technology management or large program leadership experience

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $91,061.75 - $151,769.58 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
