The Associate Director, Public Sector is a unique opportunity to pursue passions in both outstanding client service and community impact by managing a portfolio of public sector clients.  Financial analysis, due diligence, credit, and structuring are the foundational skills required to develop market-leading financing solutions.  Professionalism and client service acumen are how we excel in advising finance leaders.  Associate Directors are highly effective at driving sales growth by deepening client relationships and building new ones. 

Strong credit fundamentals are essential to operate across the risk spectrum and structure deals in our clients’ highly regulated sectors.  A collaborative partnership approach will also be critical to bring the best of BMO including Treasury and Payments Solutions, Debt Capital Markets, Interest Rate Derivatives, Global Asset Management / Wealth Advisory and many others. 

Responsibilities day-to-day include:

  • Management of the portfolio of Public Sector clients including growth, client experience, balance, monitoring, compliance, and risk management
  • Execute new lending opportunities through detailed financial analysis, due diligence, loan structuring, negotiation, documentation, and deal closing/funding
  • Coordinate end-to-end deal management from opportunity identification to credit approval to funding
  • Ensure a smooth client experience by navigating BMO systems, policies, and processes
  • Develop new client relationships including calling on prospects and responding to requests for proposals
  • Act as a centre of expertise for other partner teams across BMO
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to Credit Analysts
  • Drive overall business efficiency and innovation through adoption of digital ways of working and development of initiatives
  • Maintain internal control standards including adherence to audit, regulatory, and compliance policies
  • Support broader portfolio or business accountabilities as may be needed to support our clients

Experience it will take to succeed:

  • Typically 5-7+ years of relevant experience working in commercial banking in credit related roles
  • Post-secondary degree in related field of study or equivalent
  • Proven excellence in client relationship management and demonstrated self-starter
  • Deep technical proficiency in credit analysis, due diligence, loan structuring
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with public sector financing considered an asset
  • MBA and/or CFA considered an asset

Salary:

$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
