The Broadway Subway Project Corporation (BSCGP) is a general partnership between Acciona and Ghella, delivering a 5.7 km extension of the Millennium Line from VCC–Clark Station to Broadway and Arbutus. Once complete, it will provide fast, frequent, and convenient service to B.C.’s second-largest job centre, world-class health services, an emerging innovation and research hub, and growing residential communities.
The Transit Systems Configuration Specialist provides both management and technical expertise in configuration management across the entire project. This role involves coordination with the Design Team, Systems Assurance Team, Vendors, and the Testing & Commissioning Team to ensure that configuration is tracked across all disciplines.
The Transit Systems Configuration Specialist supports project phases for all software and hardware related activities and databases for BSCGP Systems. This includes working with Designers, Integrators, Assessors, Vendors, Inspectors, Verifiers, Testers, and Subcontractors to ensure that all design and construction processes, deliverables, products, and materials, including software, firmware, licenses, and version-controlled components, comply with project agreement & requirements.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Execute Configuration Management (CM) activities in line with the CM Plan and support the Systems Configuration Manager across all project phases
  • Maintain and update the CM database, ensuring traceability, version control, and documentation of hardware, software, and design artifacts
  • Maintain proper revision/version controls of hardware, software and document/drawing deliverables.
  • Manage the delivery of hardware and software applications in test and deployment environments.
  • Manage baselines and support Change Control Review Board (CCRB), regular and emergency Systems Change Requests (SCRs), and procedures for Change Management.
  • Manage, document, and follow up on equipment, hardware and software artifacts across both Systems and Non-Systems disciplines.
  • Handle documentation, templates, and audits during implementation & activation.
  • Define the repositories and retrieval approach for configuration items and assets database, CM artifacts and data.
  • Prepare reports, report KPIs; support supplier CM alignment, audit CM documents, recommend systems/process improvements.
  • Assist the Systems Configuration Manager in engaging with System and Non-System Designers to expedite reviews, modifications, and approvals, and to resolve technical issues.
  • Manage, track, and document the review and approval process for system and non-systems related technical documents, such as SCRs, FCRs, DCNs, RFIs, FMIs, SPEDs, and NCRs.
  • Prepare Bill of Material (BOM) for design deliverables and perform gap analysis between “As-design” and “As delivered” equipment.
  • Assist the Systems Configuration Manager for any other CM activities related to System’s V&V, T&C and Integration.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle-including design, coding, testing, deployment, and validation-ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines.
  • Utilize tools such as IBM ClearQuest, Procore, Aconex, and Bluebeam to track and manage design and software changes, maintaining consistency and traceability.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of software configurations, changes, and testing procedures to support systems assurance, maintenance, and compliance efforts.
  • Provide user support and coordinate access to the project's electronic information management systems.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced knowledge of Systems, materials, and legal regulations.

  • Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and provide solutions.

  • Engineering degree (electrical preferred)

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience in the rail industry – experience of the used technology of Skytrain of Vancouver preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Configuration Management or a related discipline.
  • Familiar with railway standards such as CENELEC (ISO 15288).
  • Experience with ISO 10007 (Quality Management - Guidelines for Configuration Management).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The candidate will be expected to communicate and negotiate with external and internal stakeholders, and suppliers.
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS NG) (preferred but non-essential)
  • Experience in large-scale industrial or transit projects; P3 and SkyTrain experience are assets
