Job Description

Loblaw Agency is currently looking for a Senior Copywriter to join our team. The Senior Copywriter will work in partnership with Art Direction and will play an integral role on our Loblaw Agency team. The chosen candidate will develop ideas in support of our brands including President’s Choice and the PC Insiders Report.

What you'll do:

  • The Senior Copywriter will partner with designers on concept development and execution across our brand portfolio

  • Act as the lead copywriter for the PC Insiders Report across all channels

  • Strong strategic acumen to ensure concepts are insight-driven and on brief

  • Attend briefings and kick off meetings and offer insight and expertise on best practices for messaging

  • Develop concepts and copy across consumer-facing channels including editorial, in-store signage, print, digital, social, broadcast, etc.

  • Ensure a seamless customer message across all consumer touchpoints that reflects the brand

  • Lead presentations of creative concepts and messaging to various internal teams and Senior Leadership

  • Ensure all projects meet brand standards and are completed on schedule

  • Review talent castings and direct radio records/shoots as required to ensure the quality of the creative vision

  • Develop relationships with external partners and vendors and provide direction/edits and approvals on outsourced copy as required

  • Keep abreast about advertising trends consumer surveys and other data regarding marketing related to PC products and services

  • Use organizational skills to maintain processes that provide structure to workflow of copy within the creative department

What you'll need:

  • Minimum 5+ years of copywriting experience (editorial copywriting preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communication studies, journalism, creative advertising or equivalent

  • Extreme attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency of writing across all channels

  • A strong understanding of industry best practices and expertise in journalism

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to present and justify creative ideas and concepts against the creative brief

  • Knowledge of the marketplace and industries we operate in, creative strategy, and the competitive landscape

  • A passion for big idea thinking and consumer centric storytelling and writing content that stands out in today’s world

  • A conceptual thinker that is confident presenting big ideas at meetings and brainstorming sessions

  • Able to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally with a fast-moving team

Primary location will be our Loblaw offices at 1 President Choice Circle, Brampton ON. Secondary locations such as at Bathurst and Lakeshore, Toronto ON may be required as needed. Loblaw has a flexible work policy, working remotely up to 1 day a week.’
