You will manage the delivery of all HSE activities in a manufacturing facility or commercial areas (offices, Sales, Warehouses) , including standards & procedures, capability processes, reporting, compliance and audit. That means you will define and review standards and legislation applicable to site, validate design for HSE into projects and modifications, and support defined work processes (e.g. IIM pillar) to improve HSE application and effectiveness. How you will contribute
You will:
- Co-ordinate implementation of all HSE programs and processes. Prepare and build consensus annual plans for facility/function wide HSE initiatives
- Plan/Budget/Control annual capital budget for HSE to enable execution of the HSE plan and adherence to all internal and external compliance standards
- Provide HSE expertise for the facility/function for all new projects and change management activities
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and follow ups implemented to minimize or eliminate accidents, asset losses that might cause harm to one of the company’s employees, contractors, visitors
- Ensure that the appropriate talent is in place through training, mentoring, and succession planning and supports development and learning capabilities of Safety specialists
- Ensure the facility standards are in compliance with both Company and governmental/community regulations
- Ensure training and coaching are taking place to drive a safety-perfect culture and to ensure safety standards and awareness are well understood throughout the plant organization

- Demonstrated experience managing a team, change management and project management

- Experience with Health and Safety audit experience

- Lead machine guarding & LOTO, combustible dust, boilers, ammonia and electrical safety technical standards.
- Lead sustainability track and green team for the plant.
- Lead the health agenda for the plant.
- Be part of 10x5 LCO for the plant in 2 appointed cells.
- Lead incidents investigations & RCA including near misses, NTIs and recordables in 2 appointed cells, PH & maintenance workshop.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Environmental Protection Act (EPA) and Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs)
- Support community track in addition to CGA & legal communications in case of special situations escalations.
In addition to his current responsibilities
- More than 5 years of experience in similar roles.
- Monitor and report wastewater discharge, air emissions, and waste management
- Track environmental metrics (water usage, energy consumption, waste diversion)
- Coordinate refrigerant safety programs
- Support allergen and chemical handling safety protocols
- Ensure compliance with noise exposure limits and hearing conservation program
- Prepare monthly/quarterly HSE performance reports and KPIs
- Coordinate internal and external HSE audits
- Support corporate HSE programs and sustainability initiatives
- Develop and implement risk assessments, including quantitative and qualitative hazard analyses
- Design and manage industrial hygiene programs (noise monitoring, air quality sampling, chemical exposure assessments)
- Evaluate and approve new projects from HSE perspective, and pre-start health and safety reviews (PSR) per O. Reg. 851
- Manage the occupational health surveillance program (audiometric testing, respiratory fit testing, biological monitoring)
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) during inspections and orders
- Maintain compliance with the *Toxics Reduction Act* and reporting requirements (NPRI, TRA plans)
- Develop and manage environmental management systems (EMS), aligned with MLDZ requirements (Energy, Water & WWTP)
- Lead environmental impact assessments for capital projects and process changes
- Track waste reduction, recycling, and diversion programs & metrics against corporate targets
- Coordinate environmental reporting (annual emissions, waste manifests, EASR registrations)
- Evaluate fall protection systems for elevated platforms, mezzanines, and roof access
- Coach supervisors and front-line leaders on safety leadership and regulatory obligations (due diligence)
- Support corporate HSE initiatives, benchmarking, and best practice sharing across sites
Salary and Benefits:
The expected base salary range for this position is $84,500 to $105,650 CAD depending on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in a highly competitive bonus program.
