Position Summary

We are seeking a versatile AWS Infrastructure & Data Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to manage and maintain our AWS cloud infrastructure while supporting data engineering initiatives. The primary focus will be on AWS infrastructure tasks such as managing IAM roles, S3 policies, SFTP endpoints, Lambda functions, RDS, Redshift, and other cloud databases. The secondary responsibility will involve designing and managing ETL pipelines, leveraging strong SQL skills, and using programming languages to support data engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Primary: AWS Infrastructure

  • IAM Role Management: Create and manage IAM roles and policies to control secure access across AWS resources.
  • S3 Bucket Management: Configure, create, and update S3 bucket policies, ensuring security and compliance.
  • SFTP Endpoint Configuration: Set up and maintain AWS Transfer for SFTP endpoints for secure file transfers.
  • AWS Lambda Functions: Develop, deploy, and manage AWS Lambda functions for serverless computing.
  • RDS and Cloud Database Management:
    • Provision, configure, and manage Amazon RDS (MySQL, PostgreSQL) instances.
    • Set up and manage Amazon Redshift clusters for data warehousing and analytics.
    • Monitor and optimize the performance and security of cloud databases.
  • Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Automate AWS resource deployment and management using CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Continuously monitor infrastructure performance and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices, ensuring infrastructure meets compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Secondary: Data Engineering (good to have)

  • ETL Pipeline Development: Design and build robust ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into target systems, including AWS data lakes or data warehouses (e.g., Redshift).
  • Programming & Scripting: Use any programming language (e.g., Python, Java, or others) to develop automation scripts and data transformations within the ETL pipeline.
  • SQL Expertise: Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and transformation, supporting data engineering workflows.
  • Data Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data integration between infrastructure and data engineering solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with AWS services (IAM, S3, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Transfer for SFTP, including endpoint management.
  • Strong experience with ETL pipeline design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in any programming language (e.g., Python, Scala) used for automation and data engineering tasks.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, data manipulation, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with cloud database management and AWS automation tools like CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) are a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for both infrastructure and data engineering tasks.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with DevOps, data engineers, and development teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
