The Director, Product Management leads a team of Product Managers on the development professional information solutions including Westlaw Japan. Key to this role will be working across teams to effectively bring Westlaw Japan into the operating culture at Thomson Reuters, ensuring effective development of Westlaw based on the Japanese legal system.

About the Role

As the Director, Product Management, you will:

  • Lead Westlaw Japan product team to define and deliver Westlaw growth in Japan
  • Develop and lead the product vision, strategy and roadmap to establish innovative, industry-leading and globally-adopted products ensuring the customer voice and Japanese localization is embedded in the approach and execution
  • Evangelize products through customer conversations at the C-level as well as on stage at industry conferences and events
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle, from strategic planning to tactical activities
  • Collaborate with TR global teams to ensure global product alignment is maintained and opportunities are maximized
  • Drive a solution across development teams (primarily Development/Engineering and Marketing Communications) through market requirements and product positioning
  • Leads product research and design testing in partnership with UX to help identify iterative improvements in the product, especially based on accelerated and long-term growth

About You

As the Director, Product Management, you should ideally possess:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a product management role within an information and technology company
  • Experience leveraging AI technologies (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Bard, or Bing) in a product management context (for ideation, strategy formulation, etc.)
  • Bachelor (or higher) degree in Law, Commerce, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field of study or equivalent professional experience
  • Native Japanese speaker; fluent in (business) English
  • Exceptional research skills including knowledge of online search languages and methods
  • In depth experience and understanding of Japanese legal research including online platforms is highly desirable
