Akron General is a Level 1 trauma center and is looking to add a Trauma Registrar to their exceptional team of caregivers. As a Trauma Registrar, you will:  

  • Abstract and code medical record data on trauma patients.  

  • Perform data collection, abstraction and entry of all trauma patients into the trauma registry.  

  • Assign ICD-9/ICD-10, ISS, AID, e-codes and trauma scores.  


The ideal future caregiver is someone who:  

  • Has trauma registry experience.  

  • Is familiar with TQIP and the Trauma Data Standard Dictionary.  

  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work remotely, learn reports and work toward becoming a Trauma Data Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Identification of patient records for entry into the trauma registry
  • Collect, abstract, and accurately enter trauma patient information in the trauma registry in a timely manner
  • Complete final entry of patient data no later than 60 days post discharge
  • Participate in data validation
  • Assist in the preparation for American College of Surgeons Level I trauma center verification
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:

  • Associate degree in Health Care preferred or equivalent work experience of at least two years.


Certifications:

  • Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) preferred or within 1 year of employment.


Complexity of Work:

  • Knowledge of data integrity and analysis.


Work Experience:

  • Previous trauma registry experience including knowledge in Trauma Registry methodology, case abstracting, data entry, ICD-9 coding. AIS/ISS, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is recommended. Medical terminology and anatomy. AIS/ISS coding course preferred or within 1 year of employment.
