Job Description

The Ontario Line Elevated Guideway project is seeking a skilled CAD Operator to join our survey team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming survey data into precise CAD drawings that are essential for the design and construction of the subway line. Your work will include creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings of alignments, station layouts, and topographical maps, ensuring all designs are accurate and align with project standards.

As a key member of the survey team, you will collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to ensure that the spatial information is correctly integrated into the project’s overall design. Your role will also involve maintaining organized digital files, conducting quality checks, and adhering to the Ontario Line’s CAD standards.

The ideal candidate will have a background in drafting or engineering technology, experience with large infrastructure projects, and proficiency in CAD software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation. Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this position.

Joining the Ontario Line project offers the opportunity to contribute to one of Toronto’s most significant public transit initiatives, working within a dynamic team dedicated to delivering high-quality infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Create drawings based on survey data, including alignment, station, cross sections and topographical map.

  • Work closely with surveyors to interpret and translate field data into accurate representations in CAD software.

  • Import and manage survey data, including point clouds, GIS data, and other geospatial information, within the CAD environment.

  • Maintain an organized digital file structure, ensuring all drawings and models are stored and accessible according to project standards.

  • Ensure all CAD drawings are up-to-date with the latest revisions and survey data.

  • Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation to produce drawings and models.

  • Stay updated with the latest developments in CAD technology and suggest improvements to existing workflows and tools.

  • Adhere to the Ontario Line project’s CAD standards and contribute to the development of CAD protocols and best practices.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Diploma or degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or a related field.

  •  2+ years of experience as a CAD Operator, preferably within a civil engineering, surveying, or infrastructure project environment.

  • Proficient in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation.

  • Experience with handling and integrating survey data into CAD drawings.

  • Familiarity with point cloud data processing is a plus.
