Position Details

Tilson is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our team. This position will operate various types of mechanical equipment including mini skid steers, mini articulating loaders, hydro-vacuum excavators, mini excavators, trenchers, vibrating plows and other types of underground construction related equipment. Tilson Equipment Operators will be required to safely operate equipment around live utilities in the underground/telecom utility field. Candidate must have full knowledge of underground fiber installation operations and must be a capable and proficient equipment operator in the telecom space. The ideal candidate will be safety focused, customer and quality oriented, with a strong work ethic and a positive, CAN-DO attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure locates are correct and all underground utilities are identified and located before digging.

  • Safely and efficiently operate Tilson equipment involved in underground construction work.

  • Never dig around or near utilities without a spotter in position

  • Constantly communicate with crew members

  • Ensure potholes are dug and utilities are daylighted prior to crossing utilities

  • Maintain accuracy in all reporting functions

  • Assist with safety events and is constantly on the lookout for changing conditions

  • Assist Laborers with hand digging, potholing, handhole installation and restoration work when needed

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Crew Lead or Foreman.

  • Ensure equipment is in proper working order and that all systems are working correctly.

  • Performing basic upkeep and maintenance of the equipment and communicate any equipment malfunctions or repair needs with their supervisor.

  • Communicate with fellow team members using hand or audio signals, to ensure the safe operation of Tilson equipment.

  • Operate other hand and power tools of all types: powerbrooms, earth tampers, concrete saws, cement mixers, and various other equipment and tools.


Qualifications:

  • Experience operating underground construction equipment such as those describe above, required.

  • OSHA 10 and Flagger certification, preferred.

  • CDL A and tanker endorsement preferred.

Must be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson’s driving eligibility requirements.

Tilson leads with integrity around pay transparency; as part of the compensation plan for this position you can expect a pay range of:

$24.00 - $33.00

The range above is associated with a tiered position.  Candidate offers will align with the relevant tier determined by their experience, education, and specialization, as assessed during the interview process.
