Hybrid role

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a hands-on role that will be responsible for designing new products that are innovative, cost efficient, reliable, and ship on schedule. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will drive the validation of concepts via early analysis, prototyping and testing, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure that product requirements are managed to achieve optimal experiences for our customers. In addition, the Staff Mechanical Engineer will work closely with internal and external partners to technically define designs and ensure that all product and project requirements are met. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work closely with other members of the engineering staff to create optimal solutions to a myriad of product related topics such as but not limited to mechanical design, thermal, and data analytics. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will be comfortable sketching and prototyping new ideas and be familiar with engineering best practices, concepts and procedures. The Staff Mechanical Engineer should be a strong communicator who is able to lead effectively and work effectively with peers and management alike in a high-paced global environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to lead a cross-functional engineering team to drive engineering activities from concept to mass production ramp. Able to prioritize, scope and delegate tasks to a cross-functional engineering working grouP
  • Takes initiative and ownership of high level work. Negotiates and drives alignment with product architects, managers, and other key stakeholders across the enterprise
  • Design, implement, and drive to completion complex system DoEs spanning several engineering disciplines including EE, ME, FW, and SW

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: product design, new product release, test engineering, manufacturing support
  • Prototyping background: Have a maker mentality that allows you to prototype quickly while also producing robust systems that sustain through heavy use and have well-documented construction and troubleshooting guidelines
  • Self-motivated, team player, with a strong desire to learn new skills and grow
  • An ability to communicate well with cross-functional team members, efficiently collaborate to achieve project goals, and contribute positively to the engineering community
  • Conduct rapid feasibility studies to design for mechanical, fluidic, and thermal robustness
  • Oversee internal and external prototyping
  • Facilitate design reviews
  • Collaborate with local and overseas engineering and manufacturing teams to qualify tooling and define visual quality requirements
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers and CM partners, specifically designing and ramping high volume parts and assemblies
  • Expertise in one (or more of) the areas of: Statistical Analysis, Design of Experiments, Thermal Design, etc.
  • Expertise in 3D MCAD, Solidworks preferred

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

Salary varies by role, level and location, and is dependent on the cost of labor in a given
geographic region among other factors. These ranges may be modified at any time.
