Your role and responsibilities

Our ABB traction competence center in Turgi, Switzerland, develops power electronic converters for applications in railway vehicles, busses and mining trucks. For our control engineering department, we are looking for a Software Integrity Manager to support our different teams around the world.

The work model for the role is: #hybrid

This role is contributing to the Head of Control Operations in Turgi, Switzerland.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Define, implement, and maintain the complete software development lifecycle process based on industry standards (e.g., EN50657, EN50716), including creating high-quality document templates  and collaborate with cybersecurity to ensure the process is adapted and aligned with the latest cybersecurity standards (e.g. IEC 62443-4-1)
  • Actively identify and integrate opportunities to enhance software quality and development speed, such as using AI and modern requirement management tools to reduce manual documentation efforts, while also providing training and clear guidelines to ensure organizational adherence.
  • Take responsibility for verification and validation activities in allocated projects as well as collaborate with power/system teams and other software integrity managers to detect process gaps, and actively develop software for converter applications to gain practical experience and continuously improve existing templates and processes.
  • This person is the primary contact person for external certification bodies (e.g., TÜV, EBA) and govt authorities, providing homologation support to ensure all standards and regulations are met

Qualifications for the role

  • You possess several years of experience in software development for railway applications, including documentation aligned with at least one relevant standard (EN50128, EN50657, EN50716).
  • You are capable of working on a conceptual level, overseeing multiple projects and managing diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • You demonstrate a structured approach in addressing integrity-related topics, even when faced with competing interests and challenges.
  • You hold a university degree in an engineering discipline.
  • You are fluent in English; proficiency in German is an advantage.
