We treat patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) using medications such as methadone and suboxone/ buprenorphine. Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse Counselor

  • Provides individual counseling to highly complex patients.
  • Conducts clinical assessments to appropriately assess patient’s treatment needs.
  • Designs and updates the patient’s treatment plan, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning.
  • Manages assigned caseload and compliance with clinical treatment requirements.
  • Collaborates with nurses and providers to provide holistic treatment services.
  • Facilitates urine drug screening for patients.

The most qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Must be registered with the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Certification board - applicants who are not registered will not be considered for employment. (LCAS, LCAS-A, LPC, LCSW or CADC). LCAS preferred.
  • Experience treating opiate-addicted patients is not a requirement but is preferred.
  • Candidate must be willing to start early in the morning, as work hours start at 5:00 AM.
  • If recovering, three years of continuous verifiable abstinence is required.
