Job Description

Peterson Power Systems has a need for a Rental Commercial Engine Shop Technician at our Hillsboro, OR location.

SUMMARY

The Rental Commercial Engine Shop Technician performs service activities in the shop on rental fleet equipment, including but not limited to repairs and maintenance on generators, air compressors, and related equipment. This position also provides customer service for internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs the following service operations with little to no supervision:

    • Maintains a safe working environment and observes all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules; works in a manner consistent with the Contamination Control Guidelines.

    • Performs:

      • Inspections, maintenance, and repairs on rental equipment to maintain availability of rental ready line

      • Safety inspections of equipment

      • Equipment check-ins/outs per manufacturer, ANSI, OSHA standards utilizing Peterson’s inspection program

      • Washing and cleaning equipment, moving equipment around rental yard, answering customer questions, explaining/demonstrating equipment operation to customers, and assisting in loading / unloading equipment

    • Ensures that all equipment maintenance, repairs, and inspections comply with manufacturer and company service guidelines in addition to ANSI, OSHA, and other government regulation standards

    • Ensures work orders are accurate and complete

    • Keeps operations team informed and updated on daily shop operations and possible problem situations, including but not limited to any redo

    • Sends parts for warranty consideration to Parts Warehouse

    • Conducts damage assessments and completes reports of equipment damage, per rental procedures, as directed

    • Supports company safety and housekeeping standards

  • Maintains excellent communications and cooperation with all co-workers, management, and other company departments. Communicates with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.

  • Attends scheduled technical and safety training (in-person or online) and completes assigned training in a timely manner.

  • Ensures assigned company vehicle maintains a clean, professional appearance and is in proper working order (if applicable).

  • Works overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.

  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience commercial engine service; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
