To act as the bridge between Chinese customers and Maersk’s local Mekong teams. This role captures and interprets Chinese customer requirements, translates them into clear, actionable briefs for local functions (Sales, Operations, CX, Product), and ensures that customer needs are properly understood and addressed internally. Additionally, the role gathers available market intelligence from public sources and direct customer interactions to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Understand & Translate Chinese Customer Requirements 

  • Engage with Chinese customers (existing and potential) to deeply understand their logistics needs, pain points, expectations, and decision-making processes. 

  • Translate customer requirements (language, business culture, operational expectations) into structured briefs for Mekong internal teams (Sales, Product, Operations, CX). 

  • Act as the primary interpreter during cross-functional meetings where Chinese customer needs are discussed. 

  • Proactively identify gaps between what Chinese customers expect and what local teams typically deliver. 

 

2 Internal Coordination & Requirement Communication 

  • Work closely with local Sales, Products and CX to ensure customer needs are accurately reflected in service proposals and SLAs. 

  • Support the development of customer requirement summaries for each strategic Chinese account, highlighting specific expectations on responsiveness, flexibility, reporting, and escalation. 

  • Facilitate internal workshops to educate local teams on Chinese business culture and common expectations. 

  • Follow up with internal functions to ensure that customer requirements are being actioned and met. 

 

3 Market Intelligence  

  • Monitor publicly available information on Chinese investment trends in Mekong (news, government announcements, basic industry reports) – depth is secondary to relevance. 

  • Gather customer feedback and competitor intelligence during client conversations. 

  • Share relevant market updates with the team in a simple, actionable format (e.g., bulletins or quick summaries). 

 

4 Support Ecosystem Building 

  • Participate in selected chamber events as a participant (not as a lead generator) to stay informed. 

  • Help identify potential partner needs based on customer feedback (e.g., “customer often asks for X service we don’t have”). 

  • Support the PMO with customer-related input for SLA design and partner discussions

Who Are We Looking For

  • Language Fluent Chinese (Mandarin) – written and spoken – is mandatory (HSK6 or equivalent proficiency). 

  • Work Experience Minimum 2–3 years in a customer-facing role, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding, or a related service industry. Experience working with Chinese clients is a strong plus. 

  • Communication Strong ability to listen, summarize, and rephrase customer needs in a way that local colleagues can easily understand. 

  • Interpersonal Skills Comfortable working with multiple departments; can bridge cultural and communication gaps. 

  • Analytical Skills Basic data handling (Excel, simple pivot tables) is sufficient. Advanced analytics is not required. 

  • Proactiveness Able to ask customers the right questions to uncover true needs, not just surface requests. 

  • Cultural Awareness Deep understanding of Chinese business etiquette and communication style
