Turkey Markets business is a material business sub-cluster within Middle East and Africa (includes Central Asia) (“MEA”) Markets. The Head of Markets for Turkey is a senior level position reporting to MEA Markets Head, responsible for leading and implementing a fully integrated Markets strategy for the country, in coordination with Global Products, CCO, Regional management teams and Risk partners.
The role is responsible for:
- Leading a diverse team of Markets professionals in Turkey
- Driving a revenue growth strategy across all Markets products and client segments whilst ensuring sound risk-taking
- Strong oversight and governance of ALCO proceedings and engagement with business stakeholders
- Development and enhancement of Citi’s onshore capabilities including proactive management of onshore balance sheet and liquidity.
- Proposing and supporting the execution of our overall Markets client strategy (origination, execution, risk) across products and client segments including international portfolio investors
- Coordinating with the CCO, Banking, Independent Risk and Finance, while also monitoring and managing the various Market risk taking activities performed in the country through the dedicated specialists (Equities, Credit, Commodities, FX and Rates traders, and Market Treasury managers) across all Citi Legal Vehicles
- Managing the senior level Markets-related local Regulatory relationships, maintaining a sound risk & controls environment, and fostering a culture of inclusion, transparency, strong governance, and compliance
Key role Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for driving growth for Citi Markets
- Setting an aspirational business strategy and implementing it same for the Markets
- Aligning the Turkey Markets business strategy with Markets products
- Aligning the Turkey Markets business strategy to our client business by identifying gaps/ opportunities and challenges and pushing with Sales Heads and Products on product enhancement, platform deployment, risk requirements, resource allocation to ensure optimal client delivery/ impact
- Owning and maintaining senior external interfaces with Regulators
- Represent the Markets franchise throughout Citi
- Drive client value by being closely aligned with sales heads and maintaining senior client connect
- Leading reviews of resource allocation (including risk and talent) and prioritization for country and cross product business initiatives
- Maximise organizational execution of key initiatives and business review processes.
2. Leading strong governance and controls:
- Build a culture of responsible finance
- Create appropriate governance, controls and compliance
- Work in close partnership with control functions and Compliance to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure and dialogue with Regulators
- Ensure partnership with Finance to deliver the annual financial planning / budgeting process
3. Human Capital Management
- Lead the Markets, People Strategy including talent reviews for critical roles
- Partner with HR and regional product heads to ensure the people strategy and organizational capabilities are aligned to business strategy
- Ensure cross-product oversight and governance of headcount, hiring and workforce planning
- Provide direction and oversight of talent processes that underpin our meritocratic and high performance culture, including; compensation, promotion, junior talent pipeline, internal mobility, talent reviews and succession planning
Experience, skills and capabilities:
- Strong connectivity with local market participants including corporates, regulators. Banks, asset managers
- In depth experience with Markets clients, risk management and products suite including Rates, FX, Commodities, Equities, Credit and Structured Financing.
- Integrity, credibility and gravitas to lead, motivate and influence a diverse population across products and matrixed reporting lines
- Strategic thinker with ability to translate a vision into execution, and monetise commercial opportunities
- Successful track record of creating momentum and leading a collective agenda across multiple products towards a strong client service strategy
- Team worker
- Leadership skills and intellectual capability to bring together a broad range of stake holders in a teamwork environment
- Interpretive and problem solving skills; pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence and create alignment at senior levels across multiple products, clients, and competing priorities
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
