About the Team  

We empower teams to streamline operations, enhance efficiencies, and provide essential support and tools, enabling stakeholders to achieve key company objectives and drive business growth. Our Technical Program Management team at Roku collaborates across organizations with company leadership, cross-functional stakeholders, and internal teams to oversee the development, testing, and release of products and features. We work closely with engineering, product, UX, and Quality Assurance teams to deliver innovative products and features for both existing and emerging markets. Acting as the voice of the customer, we strive to understand their needs, desires, and perspectives, informing business decisions and continuously improving our product offerings.  

 

About the Role  

 
Roku seeks an experienced Manager, Technical Programs with a strong background in Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Program Management to oversee large-scale cross-functional programs. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless execution of projects, timely releases, and maintaining high-quality standards across all deliverables. 

 

 What you'll be doing 

  • Team Management: Lead, mentor and manage a team of direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. 
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize your software engineering and quality assurance background to guide technical discussions and decisions. 
  • Program Management and Testing Frameworks: Oversee and manage large, complex programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals and cross-functional collaboration, while supporting engineering and product teams with alpha/beta testing. This includes running trials, defining scope/timelines, analyzing results, and ensuring seamless release processes to drive informed product decisions. 
  • Customer Voice: Translate user feedback into strategic insights to enhance product development and user experience 
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Align Product, Engineering, Operations, and Business stakeholders to enable work on cross-functional business-impacting initiatives. 
  • Progress Tracking: Track and communicate progress on all initiatives and milestones, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Metrics Reporting: Maintain transparency across all teams through metrics reporting and insights generation. 
  • Technical Discussions: Participate in diverse technical discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful and scalable deployment. 
  • Risk Management: Manage critical decision-making, anticipate and mitigate potential risks, explore and implement contingency plans, and ensure cross-functional alignment throughout a program’s lifecycle. 
  • Communication: Facilitate communications across the company to ensure transparency of program progress and risks, maintain the plan-of-record, and provide timely updates to the executive team. 
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a team of talented program managers, overseeing technical programs, releases, and alpha/beta testing from early ambiguity through successful launch and closure. 

 

We're excited if you have 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field 
  • Extensive experience in software engineering, quality assurance, and program management 
  • Demonstrable experience of management experience in coaching, mentoring and performance management 
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software development methodologies 
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams 
  • Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills, comfort with ambiguity and a get things done approach 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions 
  • Demonstrated experience in testing and direct interaction with customers. 
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Strong understanding of testing frameworks and product development processes 
  • Ability to participate in and lead technical discussions 
  • Experience in metrics reporting and insights generation 
  • Experience in aligning cross-functional teams and managing business-impacting initiatives
