Job Description
Circle K is seeking a commercially focused and pragmatic Senior Legal Counsel to support its Swedish business and contribute to the broader international legal team.
This is a broad, hands-on role where you will advise on day-to-day legal matters while also supporting management on risk, compliance and business-critical decisions. You will have regular exposure to key business stakeholders and be encouraged to take an active role in shaping practical solutions.
The role is based in Stockholm and reports to Bobby Kennedy, Legal Director, based in Ireland. You will work as part of an international legal team spanning Europe, North America and Asia.
This is an opportunity to take on a broad and autonomous in-house role within a dynamic, international organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders and be part of a well-established, collaborative global legal team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, practical legal advice to the Swedish & larger European business across commercial and operational matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements
- Support the Swedish & larger European business on regulatory, compliance and risk-related questions
- Work on matters relating to consumer law, marketing, real estate & franchising, mobility, food safety, compliance and data protection
- Handle disputes and liaise with external counsel when needed
- Assess legal risk and propose commercially sound solutions
- Collaborate with colleagues across the European and global legal teams
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes and ways of working
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Jur.Kand /LL.M
- Approximately 5–6 years’ relevant experience from a law firm and/or in-house role
- Solid experience in commercial law and contract negotiation
- Broad experience in business law, preferably within retail or a comparable sector
- Fluent Swedish and English speaker
Experience in one or more of the following areas is an advantage:
- Commercial law
- Real estate law & Franchising
- Environmental law
- Consumer law
- Competition law
- Marketing and advertising regulations
- Data protection (GDPR) and related IT/technology legislation

Good to know:
- Start date: As soon as possible, taking any notice period into consideration
- Full-time, this is a permanent position with an initial six-month probationary period
- Office hours, 37.5h/week
- The role is based at our service office in Stockholm. The office is located at Arenavägen 55 in the Globen area. We believe in the power of collaboration and community, which is why we work together from the office five days a week.
