The Opportunity:
The Embry-Riddle Athletics department at the Daytona Beach campus is seeking an Athletics Compliance Coordinator to join their growing team! The Athletics Compliance Coordinator supports the operations of the Embry-Riddle Athletics Department specifically in the areas of NCAA rules compliance, academic eligibility, and student-athlete support. This position works closely with the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Affairs, the Compliance and Academic Enhancement Coordinator and with the FAR (Faculty Athletic Representative) to ensure that student-athletes are provided support with NCAA rules compliance, eligibility, and financial aid. The position focuses on helping student-athletes retain their eligibility in accordance with NCAA, Sunshine State Conference, and Peach Belt Conference rules and have a positive overall experience in support of the student-person-player philosophy.
Position responsibilities include:
The Athletics Compliance Coordinator is responsible for making determinations regarding student-athlete academic certification, continuing eligibility, and NCAA rules compliance. This person will support the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Affairs with NCAA Division II Rules Education, including student-athletes, coaches, and staff, and in conjunction with the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Affairs, will serve as a liaison for student-athletes to Records/Registration, Admissions, Financial Aid, Housing, and other appropriate University offices, as needed.
The Athletics Compliance Coordinator will maintain regular contact with all student-athletes and coaches to identify issues and concerns regarding academic progress and success. This will include tracking academic performance through regular collection of Early Alert and Mid-Term grade reports and provide statistics and feedback to coaches and administrative staff regarding student-athletes’ performance, with an emphasis on identification of potential problems and plans to address those issues. The Athletics Compliance Coordinator helps identify student-athletes who are academically “at-risk”, according to department definitions and policy, and coordinates focused outreach services and support for at-risk student-athletes, including individual and group tutoring, referrals, etc.
This individual must possess high ethical standards, extreme attention to detail, integrity, and a willingness to exhibit a strict adherence to NCAA, University and departmental rules and regulations. They must actively support and promote the NCAA’s Life in the Balance strategic positioning platform, embracing the six ideals of leaning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, passion, and service.

Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Strong organizational skills. Requires the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse group of constituencies. Ability to collaborate with campus departments to provide support services to student-athletes.
Knowledge of NCAA Division II, Sunshine State Conference and Peach Belt Conference eligibility compliance rules and regulations. Previous experience with student-athlete eligibility processing preferred. Experience with academically focused support programming preferred.
