Director of Transactional Sales, Reuters

We envisage the successful candidate being based in London, UK.

Are you an experienced sales leader? Looking to use your commercial knowledge and managerial skills to lead a team on one of Reuters' most exciting new media products? This might just be the role for you.

As Director of Transactional Sales at Reuters, you'll report to the Head of Agency, and will lead both the evolution of our sales strategy for the transactional business and a global team of sellers. You'll lead the sales strategy on a new digital media platform that serves as a marketplace for Reuters and partners' video, audio and photographic media, allowing our clients to access, sell and purchase the material they need (both in real time as well as archive material).

The team includes archive specialists/researchers, who work independently and often have deep knowledge of our archives, and more generalist sellers that focus on high-volume transactional sales. As Director of Transactional Sales, you'll be the voice of the customers and will work closely with our regional sales teams focused on subscriptions, product, strategy and editorial teams, as well as our partners. You'll ensure the transactional sales team feeds the Reuters Agency subscription pipeline, and will work with the Commercial Excellence unit to continuously evaluate and refine our sales process to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness to our clients' needs.

About The Role

As Director of Transactional Sales at Reuters you will:

  • Lead and manage a responsive, high performing global sales team that handles transactions for Reuters and partner content in pictures, video and audio sales.

  • Ensure our sales teams adhere to a proactive, account-growth strategy, with a focus on hunting new opportunities and driving sustainable growth, with a specific focus on ensuring repeat transactions.

  • Customer relationship management: Foster strong relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.

  • Data-driven opportunity identification. You'll leverage data to identify new sales opportunities, trends, and potential markets to support the strategic vision, while also using data to drive tactical activity (e.g. marketing, special offers, feedback to product, pricing).

  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the sales team to enhance their skills, product knowledge, and sales techniques.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that strategies are fully implemented, and revenue targets are met.

  • Full adoption of Salesforce and other sales tools. Focus on Objectives and Key Results (OKR’s): Activity, Pipeline, Win Rates. Accountable for monthly Forecasting.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Director of Transactional Sales at Reuters if you have:

  • Sales leadership and management experience. We're looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of successful sales cycle execution, with experience of leading a sales team that delivers against targets.

  • The capacity to understand and refine rights clearance processes and work with internal stakeholders to enable scalability. This role will also be heavily involved in developing platform capabilities that enhance the customer experience and enable customers to self-serve where possible.

  • Experience of leading and coaching teams whilst running projects with multiple stakeholders. You'll work with the team to set standards and will act as a coach, getting the best out of different personalities within the team.

  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work with multiple business functions and industry contacts

  • Some experience of working with media and editorial content, and an understanding of the content licensing industries.

  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to analyse data and spot trends. You'll use your data-driven approach to guide and develop our sales strategy in response to market developments.

  • The ability to measure, analyse and plan the quantity, direction and quality of the sales teams' work to drive results.

  • Experience of customer advocacy, to ensure we're maintaining a clear focus on the needs and experiences of our clients to deliver what's right for both Reuters and our clients.

Please Note: Completed applications must be submitted by Tuesday 19th November 2024. Early applications are encouraged.
