Work Shift
The Executive Director of Operations CHOG will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating initiatives around operational efficiencies at the Children's Hospital of Georgia. This position will report directly to the COO.
As the operational leader, this individual will partner with others to ensure a high quality, safe continuum of care for CHOG Patients. In addition, they will partner with applicable Service Line leaders to grow current strategies and/or plan, implement, and evaluate new ones. The Exec Director is expected to create and maintain strong relationships with team members, physicians, peers across system and community in and surrounding the service market.
The Executive Director must have a strong background in business unit oversight in a health care environment. This individual must be process improvement focused, including lean methodologies. This leader will collaborate with clinical and non-clinical support services to provide high quality, patient focused care.
This individual provides leadership and direction in the development and execution of strategies to manage operations that are consistent with CHOG's culture, strategic business objectives, and continuous quality improvement. Employs a global perspective of emerging trends, issues, and technology in health care and possesses understanding of CHOG's mission and vision.
Provides leadership assistance and oversight to the departments of the Childrens Hospital to assure that the goals of the System are achieved.
* Develops leadership teams and organizational structures appropriate for CHOG department needs.
* Maintains expert knowledge of multiple regulatory and reimbursement structures. Works closely with Finance/Revenue Cycle to ensure appropriate charge capture
* Possess strong physician relation building skills and works collaboratively with CHOG clinical and physician leadership to accomplish shared goals.
* Works in collaboration with WMCG leadership to develop space programming and facility modification and repair
* Leads any departments within CHOG not specifically assigned to nursing or physician leadership
Participates as an active part of WMCG Leadership to assist in identifying and achieving CHOG operational and strategic goals and objectives.
* Maintains detailed knowledge of Wellstar System strategies and objectives; identifies opportunities for improvement and ensures Childrens Hospital initiatives are consistent with and contributing to System objectives.
* Maintains knowledge of healthcare environment both locally and regionally to identify opportunities and threats; communicates internally as appropriate and incorporates into planning process with both WMCG and the System
* Provides communication and feedback to Executive Leadership, Administrators and direct reports.
* Works in collaboration with other WMCG services to ensure appropriate, safe, and effective delivery of care. Examples include but not limited to Perioperative Services, Radiology, Pediatric Cardiology, etc.
* Takes responsibility for KPI generation and monitoring for inpatient and outpatient services
In partnership with CHOG nursing leadership, sets the appropriate conditions for optimal outcomes.
* Creates and monitors budgets required for desired outcomes.
* Ensures appropriate resourcing to support all clinical programs
* Works to identify and monitor positive operational outcomes to include appropriate and effective utilization of inputs. Works to address any financial challenges associated with inefficiencies.
* Along with other Wellstar and WMCG resources, designs, implements, and monitors effective patient experience programs, benefitting patients, families, and the System, to the degree appropriate
* Ensures appropriate resources specifically to support any clinical outcomes and improvement endeavors
* Develops and drives recruitment and retention strategies, including leveraging existing relationships with MCG and Allied Health Sciences
* Supports performance improvement activities and introduction of new performance improvement methodologies
In conjunction with physician leadership
* Continuously looks for opportunities to expand services for the community and to diversify revenue streams.
* Assists in philanthropic endeavors to expand service offerings of CHOG and the System as a whole.
* Continuously searches for opportunities to offer services in new and novel ways as appropriate to market demands
* Actively participates with any Wellstar groups to further the mission of CHOG and expand the partnership of CHOG and the Wellstar System
* Facilitates the creation and maintenance of pediatric policies and procedures for the System as appropriate
* Seeks appropriate resourcing for new care delivery models or the introduction of new clinical programs at CHOG and/or the Wellstar System. Works with System resources for scale and spread. Works to create governance structures and performance metrics for these models and services
* Works with nursing and physician leadership to create any training or precepting programs with the System
* Partners with information technology leadership for change or expansion of technology needs and requirements
Actively participates in System initiatives, committees and group discussions to further the CHOG-System partnership
* Actively attends and participates in committees as assigned. Works with other leadership throughout the System as appropriate
* Identifies how CHOG or System structure or function could be improved and communicates appropriately
* Promotes local and System team development through active leadership presence
* Organizes and presents data in a concise and easily understood manner
Participates in community and industry leadership roles to facilitate a greater presence of the Childrens Hospital and Wellstar Health System in external settings and to obtain necessary feedback for continued development of the system
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
