Position: Enrolled Nurse/Registered Nurse

Employment Type: Maximum Term, Full Time (12 months)

Employment Period: 10 March 2025 to 09 March 2026

Hours per week: 38 hours

Position Grade: Registered Nurse (Year 1 - 8) / Enrolled Nurse (Year 1 - 5)

Salary: $70,049.73 to $98,351.39 / $63,130.85 to $68,599.17 base per annum (+ penalty rates and superannuation)

Take up this fantastic opportunity and come join our Pathway to Practice program (PPP). You will be provided with educational and clinical support in a structured program tailored for your needs and your level of experience.

 

Our Pathways to Practice Program offers Registered and Enrolled Nurses currently working in other healthcare sectors the opportunity to return to the hospital setting after a short absence of up to 3 years, or to enter the hospital setting from their current subacute/non-hospital role.

 

This 12-month full-time program will consist of two clinical rotations, across a variety of services within St Vincent’s Hospital and Sacred Heart Health Service, working on a 24/7 rotating roster including morning, afternoon and night shifts. Entry requirements for Pathway to Nursing Practice Program:

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only for the duration of the program.

 

Applicants must meet one or more of the following entry requirements:

 

Requirement 1:

A Registered or Enrolled Nurse with the equivalent of a minimum 12 months full-time Australian Registered or Enrolled nursing experience in the subacute/non-hospital sector, e.g., community nursing, aged care, mental health or primary care.

 

Requirement 2:

A Registered or Enrolled Nurse returning to practice in the hospital setting after an absence of between 1 – 3 years. Must not be currently employed in or have worked in the acute/hospital nursing sector in the last 12 months.

 

Requirement 3:

An overseas trained Registered Nurse who has;

  • met AHPRA requirements for registration as Registered Nurse in Australia 

  • at least 12 months full time acute experience in their country of origin, and less than 12 months nursing experience in Australia. 12 months full time service is equivalent to 1982 hours of paid work.

Your application should include:

1) A cover letter, including the reasons for applying for the program, how the applicant meets the entry requirement/s listed above, and indicate a preference (optional) for rotations in medical, surgical, ED or ICU.

2) Evidence in the form of the statement of service as requested to prove how entry requirements have been met.

 

Applicants that do not address the selection criteria will have their application automatically rejected.

Shortlisting will occur immediately, as applications may close early if the maximum number of suitable applicants are sourced.

 

Interviews are planned between 25 November 2024 - 06 December 2024. The outcome of the interview will be notified by the end of January 2025.

1. Personal Integrity and demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries

2. Current Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) without conditions or notations or an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) without conditions or notations, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

3. Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality patient care within a multidisciplinary health care team

4. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development

5. Demonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system

6. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills

7. Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads with in a complex environment

8. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a registered or enrolled nurse
