Job Description:

Primarily responsible for acquiring new business and client retention and growth.

The person is responsible for growing the trust and investment distribution business direct from the market and company-sponsored initiatives. For identified institutional, large corporate and qualified individual accounts, he/she is responsible for identifying and understanding client needs and providing solutions; relationship management, ensuring client retention and continuing business growth by providing after sales service in the areas of account management and administration. He/she shall formulate and execute plans, programs and strategies to ensure the attainment of the job’s objectives.

As a Senior Relationship Manager, he/she should be able to make recommendations to middle management on business solutions pertaining to client needs and the resolution of difficult situations.

1. Direct to market prospecting and closing of trust and investment accounts from institutional, corporate and qualified individual clients. Will perform the following responsibilities, among others:

a. the preparation of proposal letters, customized if necessary; setting appointments with prospects

b. to seek out and understand the investment needs of the client and provide solutions to meet these needs

c. accomplishing enhanced client’s due diligence and other documentary requirements to enable SLIMTC to conduct business  

d. conducting client presentations and financial planning and reviews, as requested by the clients

e. the negotiation of applicable fees to the client, within prescribed limits, whenever applicable

f. the coordination with the Investments Team on the formulation of investment portfolios for separately managed funds

g. Conducts periodic follow-through sales spiels to ensure growth via recurring investments

h. Franchising of accounts

2. Considered the “product champion” for products and services that may be offered to institutional and qualified individual clients,

a. Able to conceptualize, develop and rollout new services, customized solutions, tools and programs to ensure the growth of new business

b. Assist in the conceptualization and implementation of awareness-generation activities that will support initial and subsequent sales (i.e. sales campaigns)

c. Coordinates with Head Office support units (Investor Services, Legal, Compliance IT) for the necessary interfaces

d. Liaises with Regulators, external counsels, actuarial offices, etc as may be deemed necessary

3. Performs account management functions as such:

a. Knowledge of approved portfolio mix/strategy for accounts managed

b. In coordination with the Investments Team, ensures the implementation and compliance with the agreed portfolio mix/strategy of the clients

c. Informs Account Services and the Portfolio Manager of additional investible funds received from the client and of any liquidity requirements of the client

d. Familiar with the investments of the client, enough to be able to periodically conduct an investment performance review and market update (if required, in tandem with the Head of Marketing and the Portfolio Manager)

e. Periodic review and/or updating with the client on their mandate and subsequent coordination with the Portfolio Manager of changes, if any

4. Provides day-to-day account administration services such as:

a. Responding to queries of clients on the account in a timely manner.

b. Ensures the timely delivery of required reports of the client, in addition to the standard SOA

c. Ensures completeness of documentary requirements

d. Prepares pertinent reports to Management on relevant information

e. Safekeeping of pertinent client files

f. Close coordination with internal support units to meet client requirements

5. Establishes good rapport with clients to ensure retention and promote additional business

6. Able to make recommendations to middle management on business solutions pertaining to client needs and the resolution of difficult situations.

7. Assists in the training and upskilling of Relationship Managers. Acts as back up in handling accounts, if needed.

8. Reports directly to the Head of Marketing and is responsible for the implementation of the agreed sales strategy applicable to the portfolio of clients being handled.

9. Ensures compliance with internal policies and guidelines, regulatory requirements and working within budgets

Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of the department’s major functions, work methods and procedures and their interrelation with other department’s responsibilities and activities
  • Thorough knowledge of trust and investment products, including but not limited to : IMA, TOFA, UITF, Mutual Funds, Fixed Income and Equities; current business practices, prevailing market conditions, investor behaviour and financial market dynamics
  • Understands the information in the Statement of Account and is able to compute for data and discuss financial outcome in detail
  • Proficient in using the MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)

Education and Experience  

  • College graduate, preferably Sales and Marketing, Accounting or business-related course
  • At least 5 years of sales/account management related job, preferably from financial institutions
  • Evident track record of business growth based on the size of portfolio/accounts generated and handled
  • Must be willing to undertake the necessary trust course and other license requirement for proper job execution.
  • Willing to travel around the Philippines and on flexible schedules
