The Imaging Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Imaging Department. This includes supervising both technical and clerical staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. The manager regularly evaluates existing processes and develops new procedures to improve operational efficiency. You will also responsible for revising established protocols to maximize productivity and service delivery. 


In addition to operational oversight, the manager conducts fiscal planning, prepares budgets, and manages related financial activities to ensure the department remains within budget while meeting performance goals. The role requires a strong commitment to maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a culture of safety, quality, and patient-centered care. 


When necessary, the manager may also perform imaging procedures within their credentialed modality to support department operations. 


A caregiver in this position works days, 8:00am—5:00pm.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the status of departmental operations.  

  • Ensure the department is properly staffed. 

  • Perform analysis and management studies to evaluate effectiveness of department.  

  • Conduct hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions as appropriate. 

  • Manage the daily operations for the department to ensure maximum operating efficiencies. 

  • Initiate, research and implement special studies and projects to enhance patient care delivery systems. 

  • Monitor appointment scheduling and patient flow systems. 

  • Recommend and implement revisions to ensure maximum service. 

  • Manage all aspects of the accreditation process in collaboration with Medical Physics and Quality. 

  • Assist with financial planning and other related financial activities. 

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for the section; projects patient levels, staff growth and space remodeling needs. 

  • Participate in long-range planning strategies related to the department's revenues, human resource needs and services. 

  • Perform duties as a technologist as needed, to maintain skills and assist with patient care needs. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Hospital Administration, Allied Health or a related field 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology 

  • Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(ARRT), in good standing; specific credential dependent on modality

  • or may also be credentialed as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, RDMS, through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

  • or be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board: C.N.M.T. dependent on modality 

  • *If required by state of employment, a current state licensure required prior to employment, dependent on modality

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

  • 5 years of related managerial experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer.

  • Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing and the ability to verbally communicate.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Must be available for after-hours support by pager and computer.

  • Must be able to function in a stressful environment.
