What you will do

As a member of the Technology organization, the QA Software Engineer provides detailed planning, development, design, and manual execution of test plans.  The QA Software Engineer will work with product managers and software developers to ensure the functionality, performance, workflow, and security of all our products have documented test coverage that align with acceptance criteria.   This position will also work closely with software automation resources to ensure prioritized test cases are automated and all features are covered correctly.

Our video devices, analytics, and AI solutions range from web-based applications, micro-services, and cloud applications to embedded software devices. Each of these technologies require a technical engineer to develop a testing strategy that will provide high confidence in the quality of the solution. The core responsibilities of the QA Software Engineer will be delivering comprehensive test scripts, building real world IP network environments, and provide critical feedback on the UI and UX of our solutions. 

How you will do it

  • Leverage JIRA and Zephyr Scale to document test coverage

  • Drive quality standards and procedures into the process from the start of development

  • Lead in the design and execution of test plan development

  • Develop, modify, and execute software test plans for new feature development

  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to write test scenarios based on requirements

  • Contribute as an embedded member of the sprint team with assigned stories

  • Track progress, open defects, and communicate burndowns status during the SDLC

  • Leverage load generation tools such as J-meter and ReadyAPI to create real world scenarios

  • Design and build physical environments to verify new technologies, products, and defects

What we look for

  • (5) years of experience as a software test engineer

  • Experience with writing, developing, and executing a test strategy 

  • Experience with cloud, microservice, or web testing strategies

  • Ability to setup and deploy Windows and Linux environments

  • Experience with troubleshooting best practices and procedures

  • Self-starter and independent worker

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical degree

Preferred Skills/Experience 

  • Experience with access control or video surveillance systems

  • Knowledgeable in video codecs, VoIP, or hardware validation

  • Understanding of AI or object detection processing 

  • Wireshark knowledge for performance monitoring

  • Experience with mobile testing, Android Studio or Xcode mobile tools

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Project management, forecasting and estimation skills

  • Experience working in Agile environment

  • Experience with Docker or Kubernetes

Where and how 

  • This is an on-prem position in Belfast, Ireland

  •  Candidate is expected to be on site 3 to 5 days a week
