Position Summary

Position is responsible for the cleanliness of an assigned area, office(s), dining facility or resident space within a residential college managed by the Residential Life Center.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cleanoff-campus, occupied and vacant, residential and commercial units, including building common areas, hallways, stairs, landings, laundry rooms, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping down flat surfaces, cleaning glass, taking out trash and replacing liners. Ensure that all safety measures are being followed.
  • Report any building or residential unit maintenance concerns that are observed in any areas of responsibility to housekeeping supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • This position has some exposure to dust/allergens, and use of various cleaning agents/chemicals.
  • The individual must be physically fit and capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs to waist level.
  • The position involves frequently bending, kneeling and squatting throughout the day, as well as the individual to be on their feet most of the day.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some housekeeping experience.
  • Ability to use an auto scrubber floor cleaner.
  • Ability to work independently cleaning residential/commercial properties.
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or two years of housekeeping experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Working knowledge of general cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand labels and operating instructions on equipment and chemical containers.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to provide a superior level of service to residents and demonstrate good judgement.
  • Ability to practice safety procedures at all times.

Required Qualifications

Less than high school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

Salary Range

$15.25 - $20.77 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
