A Day in the Life

Our Global Diabetes Capability Center in Pune is expanding to serve more people living with diabetes globally. Our state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to transforming diabetes management through innovative solutions and technologies that reduce the burden of living with diabetes. We’re a mission-driven leader in medical technology and solutions with a legacy of integrity and innovation, join our new Minimed India Hub as a Software Engineer – Mobile Apps. As a Software Engineer – Mobile Apps, you will be asked to design and develop mobile applications that help patients manage their diabetes. Our product suite spans from medical devices that a patient wears, to mobile apps, up to our back-end servers so this is a challenging task, and one that requires critical thinking to ensure the system performs well. The best candidates will be ‘engineers’. That is, critical thinkers who solve problems efficiently, pragmatically, and continually seek information from all sources. Strong relationship skills are a must, as is excellent verbal and written communication.


This role offers a dynamic opportunity to join Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. While you will start your employment with Medtronic, upon establishment of SpinCo or the transition of the Diabetes business to another company, your employment may transfer to either SpinCo or the other company, at Medtronic's discretion and subject to any applicable information and consultation requirements in your jurisdiction

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Experience developing and maintaining complex mobile applications in Flutter (iOS or Android) 

• Have a deep understanding and experience working with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 

• Be an expert in one of the following languages: Dart, Java, Kotlin, C/C++, Objective-C, Swift  

• Self-motivated with great written and oral communication skills 

• Ability to collaborate with System and software architects to interpret, analyze, and implement software requirements 

• Ability to coach others on software development and provide constructive feedback to improve other’s designs and implementation.

• Designs, develops, tests, debugs, and unit tests mobile apps, components, and tools independently without any guidance 

• Develop in Android Studio or Xcode 

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; can identify root cause of complex problems and provide solutions to such complex issues 

• Knowledge of Database operations on mobile devices  

• Knowledge of integrating with REST/SOAP based APIs  

• Provide feedback to members of the requirements, development, and test team 

• Work closely with quality and systems teams to ensure the product works properly from end-to-end, both pre and post-release.  

• Work in agile/scrum environment 

• Participate and contribute to product code and design reviews.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• 2 years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Sciences  Or, advanced degree with 2 years of experience.

• Experience developing and maintaining complex mobile applications in Flutter (iOS or Android).

• Have a deep understanding and experience working with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)

• Be an expert in one of the following languages: Dart, Java, Kotlin, C/C++, Objective-C, Swift  

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of mobile application security (Certificate pinning, TLS, SSO, etc) 

• Experience coordinating with remote teams 

• Experience working in a regulated industry  

• Experience creating and maintaining documentation for software systems such as design documents, class diagrams, and sequence diagrams
