Job Description:
This position provides leadership and specialized expertise associated with the selection, implementation and ongoing operational support for all technologies leveraged by Ryder to deliver scalable, highly available computing environments. Ryder has a large footprint of legacy systems delivered via On Prem infrastructure but has started an aggressive Digital Transformation journey that heavily leverages Cloud delivery platforms – IaaS, PaaS, Services, Containers. This Sr IT Leader must have the technical expertise and the leadership skills to help drive the full implementation of a Hybrid Cloud Strategy that protects existing investments while readily enabling the migration of emerging products to the cloud. A key attribute of the Ryder Hybrid Cloud platform is strategic enablement of self-service based on automation for use by the Product Teams.
This leader must have strong experience in the operational management of traditional data center centric virtual compute environments plus experience with operational support of Cloud based compute platforms. This includes that ability to create , manage and operate all of the tools and processes needed to deliver world class operational support for on prem and cloud based applications.
In addition, this leader must have the technical expertise and experience needed to transform the Technical Services team into a high quality Managed Services organization for internal customers. The managed services portfolio will include Solution Architects, Delivery PMs, SysAdmin Services, Storage Admin Services, DevOps Services and DBA Services for both On Prem and Cloud based internal customers.
This leader will be expected to act as an organization resource to both the IT organization and the business units as Ryder collectively builds an application roadmap for existing legacy applications and emerging cloud native applications and solutions. It is expected that this leader will have strong expertise across the entire IT infrastructure landscape – Applications, Databases, Compute, Virtualization, Networking and can partner with other senior leaders within IT and the business to construct high quality, scalable, highly available, manageable solution delivery platforms.
Essential Functions
STRATEGY AND MANAGEMENT
Architecture and implementation of Hybrid Cloud with Operational Support of Hybrid Cloud.
Lead the IT technical Services teams: AS/400 Operations, DBA Technical Services, Platform Engineering (DevOps) and Systems and Storage Technical Services.
Effectively interact with senior management to understand their strategic initiatives and communicate the relevance and importance of a strong I&O foundation required to ensure success.
Partner with business and IT teams to create original concepts, is process oriented with experience in establishing standards, processes, methodologies for IT Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) across the enterprise.
Define, implement, and promote architectural guidelines/standards, best practices, governing mechanisms, key processes, controls, and supporting tools. Demonstrate thought leadership across discipline and domains of I&O and solution delivery platforms.
Effectively Facilitate consensus and/or obtain buy-in from domain experts. Accelerate adoption of and promote adherence to guidelines/standards by engaging, teaching, training, and mentoring peers and associates.
Excellent presentations skills with the ability to communicate and persuade management at all levels.
Mentor IT Technical Services and Cloud Infrastructure Delivery and Support team members on IT TECHNICAL SERVICES and Cloud based Infrastructure best practices – tools, process, technology and service delivery.
Facilitate performance reviews, identifying training and development requirements and plans. Constantly evaluate the skills and effectiveness of the current team that results in a high performing IT Technical Services team
PRODUCTION SUPPORT
Responsible for daily production support activities in support of 2500 Windows/Linux Systems - On Prem and in the Public Cloud. Ensure operational processes and tools are implemented and leveraged to drive 99.9% system availability. Drive continuous improvement in partnership with Application development teams to address availability and performance challenges. Responsible for effective execution of Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management as it relates to the IT Technical Services Scope.
Establish and deliver an Internal IT Operations Managed Services model for both On Prem Solutions and Cloud based solutions. Partner with the various Business Units to deliver effectively.
SOLUTIONS DELIVERY
Ability to translate business/project needs and objectives into requirements and project estimates for both implementation and ongoing production support for key IT and Business initiatives.
Strong expertise in developing optimal staffing solutions that ensure efficient, yet comprehensive support of Ryder solutions.
Establish Strong partnerships with Enterprise Security, Enterprise Architecture and the PMO to ensure that the I&O organizations are understood and the team drives value across the organization.
Conduct program/project reviews to identify and address business concerns, support issues and/or project /technical roadblocks. Drive issues to resolution.
Daily coordination of IT Technical Services staff and resources.
Daily coordination of IT Technical Services project deliverables.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Develop and execute on an effective and efficient Chargeback solution for Cloud services consumption and for internal IT Managed Services.
Perform management and administrative functions including budgeting, reporting (personnel utilization, project status, salary administration, employee discipline, etc.).
Verify accurate solution estimates are provided, proposals are consistent with I&O guidelines/standards, and potential risks have been identified.
Work with Portfolio/Program Managers, Application Teams, Operations, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), partners and suppliers on solution designs and proposals that maximize leverage and reflect true costs/benefits.
Partner with the IT Leadership team to develop a comprehensive Total Cost of Ownership model for all Tier 1, 2 and 3 Applications in the Ryder portfolio. Establish the IT Technical Services methods for TCO analysis.
Responsible for the P&L for location code.
VENDOR MANAGEMENT
Effectively manage key Vendors leveraging ongoing QBRs to drive continuous value creation.
Lead the development and execution of strategic Requests for Proposals (RFP).
Effectively review Master Services Agreements and resulting Statements of Work (SOW) to ensure that Ryder is protected and receives value.
Additional Responsibilities
Responsible for overall management of the ITSM and Enterprise Compute teams and their project assignments
Works closely with Ryder executives understanding their business strategy and serves as their adviser in how core infrastructure can be a competitive advantage within the market place.
Creation of business oriented presentations to communicate return on investment on key I&O projects.
Partners with Enterprise Security to own and drive systems related security hardening and vulnerability remediation
Mentors Technical team and Project managers on the design, delivery and support of compute delivery platforms.
Overall design of standards for reports, dashboards and scorecards across the enterprise for IT Service Delivery and Performance.
Deliver scheduled milestones on-time to ensure project/program objectives are met

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required in Information Science/Computer Science/Engineering
Master's degree preferred MBA or Information Science
Minimum of 12 years IT experience with a variety of enterprise data center technologies supporting the full product development life cycle required
Eight (8) years or more experience as a Sr Director in a large and complex environment. Ideally in a multi-billion dollar organization required
Five (5) years or more sound experience and proven delivery record of architecting and implementing enterprise-wide solutions using leading On Prem and Cloud based technologies. required
Five (5) years or more practical experience in building business and technical requirements required
Five (5) years or more strong experience in the architecture and implementation of Disaster Recovery solutions for both Cloud based and on Prem DR solutions. required
