The Senior Financial Analyst role exists to provide strategic financial insight and ensure the integrity of financial reporting for Assurant’s legal entities in Puerto Rico. By owning the financial oversight of a specific entity, the analyst plays a critical role in supporting decision-making, regulatory compliance, and enterprise-wide alignment. This position contributes to the organization’s success by delivering accurate, timely, and actionable financial analysis that supports audits, tax reporting, and both GAAP and statutory accounting requirements, while also enabling business leaders to drive performance and manage risk effectively.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Analyze, recommend, and prepare technical journal entries for the monthly close as well as GAAP and Statutory quarterly journal entries for all entities.
• Prepare quarterly income tax provision.
• Prepare Statutory financial statements on schedule.
• Prepare Annual and Quarterly statements on schedule to file with NAIC, Commissioner of Insurance and other entities.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly analytics for International Finance.
• Prepares ceding statements for both internal and external reinsurance companies.
• All other analysis by products and clients requested by Management.
• Prepare monthly client experience reports.
• Prepare all PBC’s for external, internal, and Commissioner Auditors.
• Support sales and marketing on ad-hoc analyses to monitor products and client’s performance and identify variances and explain main drivers.
• Be familiar with all parts of P&L and Balance Sheet ensuring data is correct and reliable for all stakeholders.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentration in Accounting or Finance.

Work experience

• 3 – 5 years’ experience in a finance related position and exposure to forecasting, budgeting, etc.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency user of Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Other skills

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Fluent in verbal and written English and Spanish
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
