Job Description

The Communications + Brand Regional Leader is integral to DPR’s global Communications + Brand team serving as the communications partner for DPR’s Southeast team. This individual is responsible for delivering, managing and measuring strategic employee and external communications plans that align with companywide and regional business goals.

This role embeds in the region and its business units to understand priorities and advises leaders on communications strategy to support them. Together with other regional communications resource/s, this individual works to build DPR’s brand, employee engagement and share of voice while also understanding how that work contributes to DPR’s global position. This role is part of a peer group of regional communications leaders who partner closely with teams across the company to achieve DPR’s vision and mission.

In this role, the individual will:

  • Develop and implement communications plans that harmonize companywide and regional goals, positioning DPR as the region’s preferred self-perform contractor/employer and connecting core audiences to our purpose
  • Serve as the region’s primary expert in all aspects of communications, engaging extended Comms + Brand expertise whenever needed; closely collaborate with Region and Business Unit Leaders, Sales & Marketing teams, People Practices Leaders and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Leaders to align on and integrate priorities into communications planning.
  • Actively contribute to the implementation of employee and external communications plans, providing hands-on support to the region.
  • Support and collaborate with other communications team professionals to share successes, repurpose existing resources and align campaigns for maximum engagement and efficiency
  • Contribute to the creation of a high-performing Comms + Brand team by encouraging professional development, scaling resources and coordinating hiring when needed
  • Manage, mentor and/or coach other communications professionals in the region
  • Be responsible for the successful execution of:
    • Media & Influencer Relations
      • Liaise with regional thought leaders, project teams, and marketing and BD colleagues to mine stories and provide guidance on content development opportunities with key stakeholder groups
      • Establish a deep understanding of competitive landscape, including competitive messaging and share-of-voice
      • Effectively manage agency and/or freelance partners as needed
    • Content Creation
      • Develop fresh and compelling content that celebrates our work, our people and our culture, including content that provides employees with access to information they need to have a successful and fulfilling career.
      • Demonstrate expertise in writing for audience and voice
      • Regularly visit project jobsites to meet with teams and surface and develop content for earned, shared and owned channels
      • Collaborate across the Comms + Brand team to extend the reach and impact of local/regional content through new channels and media; work with global team to scale local content and contribute to team’s editorial calendar
    • Business & Industry Engagement
      • Develop a deep understanding of DPR’s culture, business and the industry and helping to build and sustain the company’s authentic message and reputation that increases brand value and produces truly great results.
      • Help DPR advance standards and change perceptions about what a construction company can be by playing a meaningful role in company-wide initiatives like National Safety Week, Women in Construction Week, and Construction Inclusion Week
      • Support DPR’s Community and Global Social Responsibility initiatives at the regional level by positioning local activities through a lens of DPR’s GSR pillars
      • Get involved in national and/or regional organizations (e.g. PRSA, Ragan Leadership Council) that advance their own and DPR’s understanding of communication and/or AEC industry trends; share that knowledge across the Comms + Brand function; help us drive C+B innovation
    • Measurement & Reporting
      • Track, report and share communications activities and outcomes regularly
      • Drive continuous improvement in communications investments using aligned upon data and analytics
      • Provide integrated, quarterly updates

Qualifications

  • 10 + years of experience in business-to-business communications, at least 4 in a supervisory position. AEC industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with content writing and publishing, including, but not limited to newsletters, professional presentations, blogs, and social media articles.
  • Ability to manage multiple internal stakeholders and tasks, produce quality work and consistently meet and enforce deadlines.
  • Experience managing agency and/or freelance partners to scale and support scopes
  • Proven experience managing and developing a communications and/or marketing team
  • Expertise in organizational, meeting facilitation, and communication skills (written, oral and visual); ability to lead meetings with other local business leaders
  • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Use data to inform decisions and frequently share results and impact
  • Meticulous editing capabilities and expert writer; ability to write for a variety of channels and voices and to train others to do so
  • Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Excel; competency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) a plus
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationally
