Technical Support Role – Required Capabilities
HVAC & Chiller Expertise
- Practical work experience with HVAC system with various York chiller models, primarily YK, YVAA, YMC2, and YZ chillers.
- Hands on Experience in commissioning of numerous chillers like Mag bearing, Cetri, Screw, Scroll with different type of refrigerant R-22, R-134a, R407,R123, R1233ZD, R513A
- Hands on Experience in conducting the chiller PM activity for various model chillers.
- Good knowledge on AHUs, FCU, Cooling towers, water Pumps, EC fans used in the HVAC system.
- Capable to handle the critical issues by taking quick appropriate decision with action plans to resolve the issues.
Electrical & Electronics Expertise
- Ability to test and diagnose power electronic components such as Diode,SCRs, IGBTs, capacitors, and inductors.
- Able to understand the Circuit Breaker settings and provide the cable sizing
- Understand the root cause of the power electronic components failure and be able to prepare the root cause analysis for the failure.
- Able to test and identify defective components at the PCB level in advanced multilayer electronic boards
- Able to troubleshoot the various types of motor used in the chiller application and AHUs
- Able to understand the various types of control logic used in chiller microcontrollers.
- Capable of programming and debugging software for microprocessor-based controllers and PLC-based controllers
VSD starter & Troubleshooting
- In-depth understanding of Variable Speed Drive (VSD) starter application, benefits in chiller, terminology and working principles.
- Skilled in troubleshooting York starter models used in chillers, including D-Drive, Vyper, Hyper, and Python drives.
- Knowing the importance of the Harmonic Filter in the VSD application and its function and troubleshooting.
Refrigeration System and Performance testing Knowledge
- Strong understanding of refrigeration systems and capability to troubleshoot issues using operating data, History data or SD card data from chillers.
- Able to interpret and analyze Pressure-Enthalpy (P–H) diagrams to evaluate refrigeration cycle performance, identify system inefficiencies, and assist in troubleshooting issues related to compressors, evaporators, and condensers
- Chiller performance testing and field troubleshooting of performance related issues.
- Understanding of psychrometry and its application in the HVAC industry
Power Quality Analysis
- Ability to connect power analyzers to the chiller’s input power supply and interpret power quality parameters based on site data.
- Capable of preparing the Power analyzer report to share with internal and external customers.
Predictive Maintenance Analysis
- Competence in interpreting predictive analysis reports such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography and Eddy current test and making informed decisions.
Frontline Engineer Support
- Provide day-to-day technical support to frontline engineers, primarily on starters and optiview control panels, system-related issues, via calls, emails, or Teams chat.
- Need to visit the site location if in case major issues and Engineer need your support
- Ensuring no repeated failure issues in chillers.
- Preparing check lists, log Sheets, SOP, critical spare list,
- Expert in the Ms Excel, Word, PPTs
- Conducting Technical Trainings to the Service team on various chillers products
- Conducting Operation Training to the Customer
Managing Internal and External Customers,
- Managing internal and external customer during the critical escalations.
- Internal and External Customer Satisfaction with solutions and Support we provide.
Electrical Diagram Interpretation
- Ability to read and understand the Electrical drawing and wiring diagrams for chiller plant and various chiller models, including starters and control panels.
BAS and Communication Protocols
- Familiarity with Building Automation System (BAS) outputs and tools like Modscan, ability to interpret SC-EQ outputs, and connect laptops for diagnostics.
