 Salesforce is looking for a Technical Program Manager with strong software engineering experience who has a passion for the new hire journey and onboarding programs that are dedicated to Salesforce engineers. The Technical Program Manager will work within the development of learning and enablement programs. This position will support the team’s goal of ensuring that Salesforce new hires get the right content, from the right people, in the right way and at the right time. They’ll strategize with Salesforce leaders to understand and address emerging new hire needs, both by offering ideas for new learning solutions and approaches and by managing technical new hire programs.

The ideal candidate for this position is extremely knowledgeable about the software development life-cycle, industry standards, and has worked in the industry as an engineering learning and development program manager or an engineer with L&D content development skills. They have experience guiding initiatives through the multiple stages of the program management life-cycle, demonstrate excellent business acumen and design well-organized new hire programs with minimal supervision. They have experience in testing automation, Java and other programming languages, and have a track record of creating programs with strong coding experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Master the development process, culture, and code base, then improve it

  • Develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, and write unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metric

  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive innovation

  • Assess needs across our Technology organization to discover learning gaps, opportunities, and improvements to our current new hire programs 

  • Curate, create, and manage Developer specific content that aligns with the business goals of the T&P organization while meeting deadlines and deliverables 

  • Cross collaborate with internal teams within the technology organization to understand the needs of their new hires and align the overall goal for strong developer productivity 

  • Work with Salesforce subject matter experts, senior engineers, and technical leads, to plan, design & facilitate new hire programs that support the needs of the organization from the engineering lense

  • Partner with teammates globally to help shape and develop our new hire engineering content, as well as contribute to the overall strategy, implementation, and facilitation of the program

  • Conduct needs assessments across the organization to discover opportunities and improvement to our current programs/catalogs and determine if new programs/learning solutions are needed. If new learning programs are needed, scope, develop and deliver training (where needed)

  • Proactively look for opportunities to meet internal customer and stakeholder needs, improve learner experience, and innovate on current learning experiences

  • Capture metrics showing learner transformation and application of learning content/activities

  • Day-to-day program management and actively involved in the success of each program and service to the business

Role Requirements:

  • Has hands-on experience as a software engineer or learning and development with engineering background, ideally in a large organization, with a focus on delivering solutions that are scalable and performant (engineering onboarding experience is a bonus)

  • General understanding of object-oriented programming. Ideal candidates have a background in Java development or similar languages (Java, Javascript, C++, C#, Ruby, Python). Full-stack experience is a bonus

  • Understands the software development life-cycle. Can work effectively with subject matter experts

  • Proven understanding of web application development

  • Experience in automated testing including unit and functional testing using Java, JUnit, JSUnit, and Selenium

  • Ability to grasp new technologies quickly and identify where learning opportunities can benefit other engineers.

  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and be resourceful; does not require extensive supervision and direction & works collaborative with global/remote teams

  • Exceptional program management and organizational skills. Ability to lead programs from conception to end-of-life

  • Proactively communicates with the team, ensuring that problems are surfaced early and work is delivered as expected.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills conducive to collaboration.

  • Strong working knowledge of Google Applications (including Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Slides).

  • Experience using Confluence or related tool to create engaging learning resources, information, and content.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $128,300 to $176,500.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
