Job Description:

Idaho Power is looking for a Resource Technician II to join our Power Supply team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Resource Technician II do for us?

They assist in implementing hydroelectric project license compliance tasks, gathering, and entering data, operating, maintaining, and repairing infrastructure and equipment, and providing customer service to visitors on company-owned lands and facilities sometimes under limited supervision and with general oversight. They are aware of project history and context, applying such to make task-specific decisions. Their responsibilities include completing information summaries relative to task completion, providing documentation as requested for project activities conducted, and processing data to database(s).

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Irrigation methods including pressurized and flood systems
  • Operation of equipment related to agricultural or landscape maintenance
  • Weed control methods

Skills in:

  • Horticultural or agricultural operations
  • Mechanical and basic electrical
  • Basic carpentry
  • Operating All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), jet boats, and heavy equipment

Ability to:

  • Function as a team member in field activities
  • Use and operate mini excavators, skid steers, dump trucks, and Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs)
  • Perform physically demanding labor for extended periods of time
  • Work in teams, and work with minimal direct supervision for limited periods of time
  • Positively and consistently represent Idaho Power Company during interactions with the public, agency personnel

Preferred:

  • Operate vehicles pulling trailers


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

OR

  • Ability to obtain within 3 months

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in relevant discipline such as agriculture, natural resources, or trade craft

Experience:

  • 2 years of applicable experience

Preferred:

  • 5 years of applicable experience

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card or ability to obtain prior to hire


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position will sit/stand/walk on a frequent to constant basis. Lifting of up to 86 lbs. to waist height, lifting up to 40 lbs. to shoulder height, and lifting up to 10 lbs. overhead is required occasionally. Pushing and pulling up to 60 lbs. is performed occasionally. Stooping/bending, squatting, crouching, and twisting is performed occasionally and kneeling and reaching activities are performed frequently with lawn care, sprinkler repair, cleaning restroom units, and camp site/park maintenance.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Additional safety related training may be required. Must be 18 years old.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and some holidays. Travel across Idaho Power service territory, with occasional overnight stays.
